Phil Hughes ,is he the worst left hander when they bowl on his pads since Kepler Wessels

As a leftie myself used to love it which they pitched leg , but Hughes can't seem to knock it off the pitch and when he does find the middle he seems to always find square leg

Strange for a leftie that for sure ,can't remember any other left handlers that were weak off their pads bar Wessels

Seems to be doing alright at this point Happy, says more about the Poms than him.

Have to say I'm enjoying the posts on Facebook from my mates lauding Agar for his knock when only yesterday they were demanding he be dumped.

Still don't know why Haddin was brought out of mothballs.

Wasn't trying to knock him CB ,just most lefties love it on their pads

Haddins selection is bewildering , you drop him and then bring him back at what 35 ish

Thanks Mickey Arthur , crickets answer to the Sheenious

Hope I'm not cursing the boy , but it would be amazing if he somehow manages to get a ton on debut

didnt see smith play.. scored a 50 yet im not convinced, what did other people think?

i'll eat my words if most people say he was good

He looked the best of our batsman before Agar and Hughes.

Lehman likes that he plays his shots and that he is a strong fielder. Hussey took many great catches at gully and Smith is fielding there now so I think that helps his cause too.

Hughes is very strong behind and through point as he plays the ball very late and looks to give himself room more then get in behind the ball. He has his own style. His pads it's actually his weakness but its come along well.

This pitch has become a fair bit easier to bat on with the swing leaving the ball for now. In saying that, Agar for Prime Minister. He has wrestled Australia back into the game. Hughes has played his part too and shouldn't go unnoticed either.

Haddin was unfairly dropped firstly. He came home to care for his child who I believe is suffering leukemia maybe.

Wade replaced him and was doing a good job but his glove work has been ordinary. Poor Nathan Lyon could have a fair few more wickets to his name if Wade was cleaner. At the same time, Haddin was in great form for New South Wales and there is a real worry about Clarke's back and his ability to play the whole series. Haddin is considered the next best choice for captain with the lack of leadership at this stage in the team.

Why in the heck is Agar at 11

See his first class average is 41 and 3 rhalf centuries

Starc can handle a bat very well, Siddle recently got a century against Scotland and Patinson is no mug with the bat either. Agar was 19 and on debut. In saying that, I don't think he'll be batting at 11 too many more times in his career.

Coincidence that arguably our worst number 11 gave him his baggy green Glen Mcgrath

That's just the beautiful irony of cricket.

Really unfortunate for Ashton Agar to fall on 98\. I had the feeling though. The couple of balls prior he had some trouble with and he's pulled and hooked all day in the air.

He and Hughes got Australia back in the game though. Some early wickets really puts the pressure onto England. Batting is easier though then yesterday.

Huge decision then Poms 2-11

Thought Trott hit it that and the side on hot spot is faulty

On a hat trick after tea

You have to laugh if they stuffed up their hot spot and it cost them a wicket. In saying that, the front view didn't show anything on the inside edge.

That one Root survived, Starc's ball was hitting as much of the stumps as the ball that Rogers was dismissed on yesterday. The only difference was the call from the umpire. For me that suggests there is a slight issue with the DRS.

Totally agree with the Root decision , we have to show some support for umpires

You didn't see a late deflection with the LBW call ,Peaches ?

there was nothing on the snicko thing at the time

Yeah Snicko had nothing and I think the deflection some may see is the change of the bat angle. Snicko would have showed something for sure.

I thought the deflection was a change of bat angle. That was plumb to me.

My point was rather that the ball was hitting the exact some part of the stump and yet the decisions were different. That cannot happen for me. It's either black or white.

Poms 2/80 at stumps, ahead by 15\. Game on a knifes edge, Aussies narrowly ahead id say. If the two at the crease now can bat on tomorrow they'll be back on top.

You can keep your mickey mouse 20/20 crap. I'll take the real cricket thank you.

Too right gunners, can't say I've ever stayed up all night to watch a game of hit and giggle.

I'm not even going to try and call whose favour the game is in. Starc needs to try and hit the dead patch a little more. Troubled Root early on in the piece when he mixed it up.

off topic but did anyone at least see the scoreboard or live match updates for the India SL game?

deadset MSD can snatch a game from someone's arse. if you watch the ipl or indian ODI games regularly, you would be amazed by hoe often he does that. simply incredible.

You can't beat the ebbs and flows of test cricket. Already we've seen the Poms get skiddled, Aussies got skiddled even worse until a 19 yr old number 11 got within 2 runs of a century (would have been the most amazing century in history, i challenge anyone to top it), Poms come back out and lose early wickets, could have easily lost the game last night, but they clawed their way back to put it just about on even terms again. And that was all in 2 days. Lets see 20/20 produce something more absorbing than that.
