Cricket Season Thread

Don’t know who it is but I want to congratulate the selector who sat in a selection meeting six months or so ago and said: “not sure what it is but I see something in this Labuschange kid.”
Kids a champion

We could actually have quite a handy side if we can have couple of real openers and a decent number 5.
I recon playing Burns, Finch, Maxwell and retaining Khawaja and playing him lower in the order should have been a better bet than what we ended up with.
Smith and Labuschagne and our bowling was the only thing that got us over the line these Ashes.

So back in Australia I’d go something like:
1. Burns
2. Warner ( will find form in Aus)
3. Labuschagne
4. Smith
5. Head
6. Pattinson (the batsman. Is is Paterson?)
7. Paine
8. Cummins
9. Stark
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon

Yep you can bet dollar to a dime Mr. Teeny will smack a handful of centuries on our lifeless tracks and it'll be his road to redemption. Patterson or Pucovski would be on my radar. Handy to know that in the background we still have Pattinson as a threatening paceman and Siddle while hardly express is pretty economical and holds up an end.

Batting is certainly the issue at the moment. I like Khawaja, I think he's great to watch when he gets going but I think he has now had more than enough chances. Labuschagne has taken it with both hands, Smith is back and in rare form.

Getting soft as I get older but really felt for Mitchell Marsh yesterday. Thought his honest and raw interview was impressive. Gonna give him another go......

Yeah I sometimes forget that these blokes are human and it's hard to dissociate the fact that these blokes probably are trying their rings out but it's just not happening. Marsh isn't a Warner in that he's not a brash, arrogant home track bully, he's just a young bloke trying to have a go. Moreover it's amplified because of his surname.

I liken Khawaja to Esan Masters. Tons of talent but care factor of zero

I think he cares, he's a lot like Mark Waugh. Wonderful to watch but missing it between the ears much of the time.
