Feel a bit for Green.

He is not a 3. But a 5 or 6. Free stroke maker but asked to do a job because no one else can
I think selectors want this first drop, first change unicorn (Jaques Kallis type), they are trying to make one out of an all rounder prodigy, who probably was 3 and opened the bowling at park level. He’s a good 5-6 when bowling too. But he’s not, which is why we have to play Webster. Marnus’s form has been the other issue, he couldn’t bat a beach ball away,
Green’s had some form with the bat in pomland recently, so they finally had their chance to get their unicorn back in at 3.
But who in the land of Oz is sticking their bat up the play 3 for us? And while you’re at it, we could do with at least one opener.

I think Greens place in the team is justified as the No 6 allrounder but so is Webster .So come the Ashes imo he will need to bowl and even if he can Webster probably has the jump on him at the moment
No 3 is normally an inform Star batter eg Ricky Ponting or even Marnus when he was in form .
His 52 today was invaluable and might win us the match but the way he starts is very shaky and nervous not a No 3 imo
Still a long time between now and Nov and if he's back bowling and can string a few scores together than he might just grab Websters spot
It will then be a tough choice for selectors .
Yes BF my comment about the Roosters game kind of ruined the thread but my comment about the England India test was more cheerful
Anyway Go Tigers !!

Not much of a tail wag
We lose 3-22
Cummins out his first ball
Carey looked poor out to his 5th ball added 3
Starc did well 13 not out off 23 balls
Hazelwood clean bowed for 4 off 11 balls
Still lead 276 Windies need 277
Their scores in this series so far 190 ,151, 253

Hazo!!! with a first over special

I just posted that in the Tristan Hope thread. 😜

Well Windies 4-33 at lunch
Cummins bowls King with a perfect jaffa just seamed enough to beat the bat and hit off stump
All 4 bowlers 1 wicket each
Windies need another 244 with 6 wickets left ! I don't think so !

After lunch our bowlers got belted a bit and surprised Starc not used
Finally brings Starc back and gets 2 wickets in 2 overs
Lyon gets hit for 2 consecutive 6's but 3rd attempt fails now 8-103
They only need another 174 but the Windies " superman " Shamar Joseph is in and he whacks Lyon for another 6 .Be careful !

I think you’re forgetting Hazo’s wicket before Stacy’s 2, but yeah.
Good Team effort I thought.
Go Oz!!!

Lyon comes on bowls a bit of rubbish and the ones that didn't go for 6 are OUT
BIG WIN by our guys by 133 runs
Well done .
Thought Starcs 3-24 and 13 not out the best of t by Aussies on day 4
Windies bowling good but their batting not good enough
2-0 a good start to the new WTC cycle !
Next test in Jamaica and is a day/night one which means a 4am start better than midnight which knocked me around a bit

Thanks champion @Stevec - loved all the ups and downs of the cricket via your posts.

South African guy getting close to Lara’s 400* but they declare with him on 367! There’s more than enough time to bowl Zimbabwe out twice - should have kept going.

Looking at the ESPN cricket records we see a huge contrast between our bowling and batting records .The experience gap is huge
Bowling - We have 4 of the top 10 aussie wicket takers of all time in this current team
Batting - Only Smith and and Kwajaja and Head way down the list make the top 50 .Starc is 4th on the list for gods sake !
Come the Ashes we really need a few batters to find form
3rd test tomorrow in Jamaica at 4.30 am a much more civilised time for me

Italy have qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup!

With the team featuring Joe Burns and the Manenti brothers, they finished second in a group containing the Netherlands, Scotland, Jersey, and Guernsey to seal their passage
