Cricket Season Thread

As usual from the Australian unbelievable bowling and rubbish batting. I think the Poms will win the ashes . I just think the Poms batting is better than ours and with Archer back their attack will have some bite. If we are going to be competitive it will be on the back of our bowling attack.

We nee two new openers and a reliable no3. Not sure who they are but they are not the ones we have now. Maybe Bancroft or Renshaw get a recall or they try and manufacture one.

Mitchell Starc takes just 15 balls to get his 5fa in the Windies second dig, moving past 400 career dismissals in the process as the Windies are rolled for 27.

Don't forget the Windies bowlers - just WOW too against our top order in every test!

Sensational Shamar finishes the series with 22 wickets, the second most for the West Indies in a three match series, and Alzarri Joseph, a fierce leader of the attack on home turf.

Pace and more pace!

A breathtaking 45 minutes this morning from the Windies bowlers in the last day of the test left the Windies with a modest 204 to win.
Australia posting their lowest total at Sabina Park.

(OK - then came Starc and Boland heroics right on cue!)

It is very sad to see what the Windies have degenerated into since the days of Wes Hall Charlie Griffiths and Gary Sobers used to entertain me when i was a kid.I am sure other dinosaurs who love cricket would agree with me.

Think just about every top order bat in the shield is 3 or 4 scores from an Ashes spot

I agree our batting needs adjustment
First this was a difficult wicket and the three Windies quicks were outstanding but I think Konstas will have to go back to Sheild and try and regain form and confidence
I think based on better Aussie wickets Kwajaja will be given the 1st test but beyond that if he fails here maybe retirement
Green whos getting better is not a no 3 .Marnus might regain this spot if he knocks up a couple of sheild tons .
Smith looking a bit scratchy but is still our no 4 as is Head no 5
Green and Webster are our allrounder choices at no 6 .Might be a Oct / Nov bat off . Carey will be no 7 but Inglis is an able understudy
Our 5 Bowlers pick themselves with Lyon / Boland / Hazelwood alternate 12th man depending on wicket conditions .
So we need a new opener preferably rhb and he must be in great form
MacSweeney is not an opener and just my opinion I don't want to rehash the past with Renshaw or Bancroft .Need someone new to hit so many runs he makes his selection obvious .

The Poms are going to have at least three quicks who can bowl consistently mid 140’s so it’s not going to be easy going up the top of the order. Like you I would love to see the selectors pluck an opener out of nowhere, just don’t know we have one. Left field but maybe Matty Wade but he may have retired from test cricket

Best bowling average in men's tests for players active since 1915 (Min 2000 balls bowled)

4- Ajaz Patel ( 55 wickets/average 19.34)
