Cricket Season Thread

This match was supposed to be a frolic in the tropics.Suddenly, for Australia, it is one of the most significant matches of the decade, with a spotlight on at least three players who might be fighting for their Test careers.

Australia has been hammered by Bangladesh in Darwin, tasting its first-ever home defeat against the Asian nation, with only a Cameron Green ton saving the Aussies from an innings defeat.

Ricky Ponting on Bangladesh’s historic win against Australia.
Question: What do you have to say about Bangladesh’s historic Test match victory?
Ricky Ponting:
"I honestly didn’t expect Bangladesh to play cricket this well. The Bangladesh team genuinely shocked me. The way they performed with their pace attack, spin bowling and batting was absolutely outstanding. They dominated Australia in every department and deservedly won the match. This is truly a historic and incredible moment for Bangladesh cricket. Their pace attack is genuinely one of the best. Just absolutely brilliant"

Went up to Darwin to watch the first 3 days, well about half of each day anyway, so hot. So happy for the Bangladeshi's who played great, hard test cricket. Our guys were pathetic with bat and in the field. Bowlers put in a decent shift. Really tough 12 months coming up for Aus, old blokes at the end of careers with depth on par with the 26 Tigers.

The Run Smith is still our best bat.
As much as it’s been a pleasure to watch his entire career, it’s an issue and you could say the same about some others. But to me CA and the selection panel has been the real issue. NZ must see this summer as a big chance, I’m not sure how their team is progressing but if they are in form then we’ll have someone new to call a wanker.

Last summer seemed like the perfect time for a lot of them to go out. Would have gotten ahead of the transition. Now, with away series against SA and India, and NZ at home, the team is in purgatory. Playing the best 3 teams in the world. The Aussies skated by last summer because the Pommy batsmen were mentally challenged. That’s all there was to it.

The lack of talent ready to come in in their mid to late 20s who can have 10 year plus careers is a huge issue, batters and bowlers. Problem is they dropped Marnus and he looked the best bat in the Shield, same with Green.

Punishment is a fine and prove he is sober every time he drives.
My Punishment is having to listen to him on fox
