Cronulla Sharks prop Andrew Fifita issued warning for consorting with criminals

The NRL continue to disgust me. This guy is a thug and will likely end up involved in a murder case before he retires.

Let's not forget the amount of women bashers and drug dealers in our midst. Russell Packer coward punched a guy and then stomped on his head twice. Yet the No Rules League are fine and dandy letting these losers runs around.

I like how somebody summed it up earlier. LOSERS. That's what they are.

I'm normally the first one to defend players' freedom to do as they see fit. They're adults, and they can make their own mistakes - I personally can't stand the hand-wringing "won't somebody think of the children" garbage the Telegraph pumps out after a player steps out of line. But it's pretty difficult to defend Fifita, here.

I mean, if he's been mates with this guy since he was a boy sure, visit him in prison. It's not a great look, but I don't think it should be any of our business. But the stuff on the arm guard is just moronic - what did he think was going to happen? I assume he thought no-one would ever think to ask, or that if they did he wouldn't say, and thus it would all be a little private thing. But Jesus, what a tool.

As ever, I'm left wondering who the hell is advising these people. Fifita is a millionaire - or he ought to be. Doesn't he have a manager who's interests are best served by maximising his commercial value and could maybe give him some advice on what causes to promote on the field? Don't the Sharks have an equipment manager who could say, "Hey, Faf, what's that stand for?" and maybe pass it on to the coach if it sounds dodgy? Mind you, it's not as if the Sharks' coach has a track record of taking institutional responsibility for things…

i have never lived in the western suburbs but i have to agree that it really is a poor excuse and reflects badly on him as a person.It is not where you live that defines you as a person it is the choices you make in life

He might've thought Fudge was gonna show him the proper way to touch his toes. Fifita might need to get used to it, the big house looks like his likely destination after he has thrown his footy career away. There have been some meatheads to forge a career in RL but Fifita is up there with the dumbest. At least he threw in the "mental illness" excuse in his interview with Yvonne Sampson last year- it basically gives him a free pass for any future brainfarts. (No way am I making light of mental health issues but please… . .there have been a handful of NRL players use that excuse in the past few years-all of them have been up to their eyeballs in strife coincidently).

Because he has played the "mental illness" card in the past when it came time for him to explain past indiscretions he has basically teflon-coated himself against too much recrimination from the NRL heirachy for the rest of his playing days.
No way would the NRL want to be accused of agitating someone with a supposed fragile mental state. Keiran Foran used the same trick IMO when he knew the NRL were gonna be sniffing around him in regards to his colourful activities off the field and his whole contract with Parra.
Players know that it is the 1 issue that the NRL do not want to mess around with so basically they are giving themselves a bit of a free-pass. If they say that they have a problem with the grog instead of "mental issues" then they know they are leaving themselves open to any future punishments.

I agree. It is a weak excuse that is being exploited more and more in society as it becomes mainstream accepted as a real issue.
