Don't think Rona will be getting on the bus.

Reckon his club will be staying and Twiggy Forrest (Fortesque) is going to to put millions into the club.

He also has been picked as one of the rain on The Wallabies.

Pity our billionaire businessman isn't so forthcoming with the $s.

I'm not surprised our billionaire businessman isn't forthcoming with the way he has been treated, I wouldn't either.

Despite this, he is still tipping a fair bit into TPA's but I guess that is not good enough.

People still cling to that hope of Harry the white knight sailing in to save us.
He is tight as a snare drum. If he isn't going to do it now he never will. He is nearly 100 years old lol.

His sponsorship was great support but it's a tax write off for Meriton.
Harry hasn't put a personal dollar in.
Please give up in the fantasy.

Actually he's put a fair bit in over the years and we're very thankful for his and his family's support.

He has sure. Just not in a personal level.
Sponsorships he will get a tax deduction for Merition.
It's appreciated but he isn't coming to save us like Nick Politis who funnels his personal money in for 3rd party deals.

Unless Harry leaves money in his will to the club we aren't being saved.

Seeing as Rona has made the Wallabies squad I can't see how he'll want to change codes now. Why move to a code where you won't even play rep football, I'm sure that's all anyone cares about these days

After the all blacks win by a cricket score the value of a wallabies jersey will be clear as day.

Even Eto Nabuli made the Wallabies squad…

They named a train on squad of like 250 million players just to make them feel loved.

Just a question guys….

How does Rona make the Wallaby train on squad when he is a New Zealander - do they have different rules or what?

Their rules are no tougher than ours. I'm sure he's a dual citizen.

Look at how many times players have to choose between QLD, Australia or NZ and jump around between them all.

Brad Thorn played for Australia in RL & New Zealand in RU .

Toni Caroll, Taumololo etc these boys are born in Oz from NZ parents, or come over to Australia at a young age. There's always a tug of war at first but ultimately it depends which region they identify with most.

Seriously matchball, if you think Politis throws his own hard earned away without being able to claim it back you are off with the pixies.
Guys like him don't get rich by giving their own money away.

I've read this type of comment a few times - how have the Tigers treated Mr Meriton badly? Genuine question - I'm keen to know

Well this is my opinion Steve - Harry is one of the biggest developers in Sydney - that is a given, he has more contacts than you can shake a stick at.

When the Tigers were making a deal to develop the Leagues Club at Rozelle - Harry was not even asked to develop the site, help with ideas or contacts etc.

I am sure it would not have ended in the shermozzle that it did with the Tigers (Balmain that is) going broke.

You may be an exception Steve - but I think as a professional in the business - Harry had his nose put right out of joint over this - I know I would have.

I don't think that you understand how professional businesses work. Harry didn't need to be asked. He could quite easily have provided a tender to the club.

If Harry got his nose put out of joint because of your belief how businesses should work (which sounds unprofessional) then he is a fool.

Can you tell me how you know that he did get his nose put out of joint or is this another made up story trying to state the club is somehow bad ?

Earl I do not make up stories, nor do I ever try to make the club look bad. Got It!!

This has nothing to do with Wests Tigers, we are talking about the Balmain Leagues Club. The Leagues Club, Benny Elias etc. are the unprofessional players in this scenario. We don't need to go through all the rigmarole again. Suffice to say if you were a plummer and there was a leaking tap at your place and your partner rang Acme plumbing to fix it instead of you - would your nose be out of joint?

Anyway apologies for being off topic, back to Rona. I live in hope.

Just to clarify the point no one has any idea about Harry and his commitments to the club or why he gives x amount and doesn't give y amount. No one has any idea if Harry is upset at the club.

It's all much ado about nothing.

They haven't. It's just more drama about how bad the club is etc.

Please explain what the present drama is and why the club is so bad! Are you talking past tense..or just stoking the fire of past discontent.

There is no drama. It's just stuff that people make up. I have no idea why they do it. I have no idea why Mr Meriton doesn't dish out the club $100million to buy the best players in the comp with under the table payments like the rorters.

I truly never understand this. OK Steggles makes Chickens, they have good deals…

But we have a strong mascot, a strong name, a large following. I don't think Proton* was a sponsorship success but we could definately get a name out there

*my fr in law has a Proton, old as anything but still goes very well. Yes it is a Korean? cheap car but it appears to have held up (The Early Kia's were very bad and the Daewoo's are scrap metal with wheels..).

Proton are Malaysian built.
