Wests Tigers is pleased to announce a contract extension of talented young player Curtis Sironen until the end of the 2014 season.

“Curtis is a very talented five-eighth who has come through our junior reps and Wests Tigers Cubs system and is a product of Holy Cross Ryde,’’ said Wests Tigers Recruitment Manager Warren McDonnell.

“He has shown enormous promise in our NYC team and was also vice captain of last year’s Australian Schoolboys team.

“Curtis is currently in the final stage of recovery from shoulder surgery and we expect him back on the field shortly.”

In other contract news, Wests Tigers have signed Illawarra Cutters prop Ray Cashmere for the remainder of the 2012 season.

A former Wests Tigers player, Cashmere returns to the Club following stints with North Queensland Cowboys and Salford in the English Super League.

Cashmere made his first grade debut as a 19-year-old for Western Suburbs Magpies in 1999.

He played NRL for Wests Tigers in 2005 before joining the Cowboys. He played 72 matches for Salford between 2009-11.

It was simply a matter of time before young Sirro was locked up for the next couple of years. Good work Wests Tigers.

Great signing young Curtis, the next news I am waiting for is a long term contract to Mitchell Moses (he is a must keep in my opinion).

Congtaulations Curtis and WT great to see local talent coming through, the Tigers should be signing most of the Balmain SG Ball team before they are picked up by other clubs. They showed last night that they are the real deal, hope to hear of some more local singnings in the near future. Get that cheque book out Warren!!

Agree. That Balmain SG Ball team has a few good players but Moses in particular looks fantastic. From memory there was a prop and backrower who both looked the goods too.
