Daine Laurie #237

Panthers really should release him. He is not a vet demanding out. He is a kid who won't play and at 21 its an important year to develop.

Stefano was 19.

Laurie is 21 and it is unprofessional if they block his development at that age.

0 gain for them releasing him a year early. Can understand why they wouldn’t do it

And to think Pascoe engineered all this with that hair! Who’d have thought eh?

He's got nothing to do with recruitment Steve🤫

Can't say I've really seen him play but welcome aboard young fella, best of luck.

Unless the Panthers are in a position to upgrade him from a development contract it makes it hard for him.

He's only on a development contract at Panther's though which means not even they can use him till around round 16.

And that's when they may need him. They have to look after themselves.

Exactly he’s on minimum wage so not like it frees up cap for them so why would they help us

They wouldn’t . But maybe they’d help the kid. Say what you will , but Gus would have released him.

They must be trying to do a deal to swap Mbye to get the kid here next year surely?
Ivan rates Mbye and it'd be an Origin player for a development kid.
Subsidise if you have to.........Please!

Maybe they could of looked at it as helping Daine out? Why hinder someone's development that has a genuine chance of playing first grade, when you have little or no intention of using them?

Yeah but it may hurt their prospects of signing players to development contracts in the future (which are a good way of getting young talent into a club's systems).

Swap for Mbye........problem solved. Win for both clubs with Wests picking up a chunk of Mbye's salary.

Unfortunately I get the feeling that means we won’t get him early but I hope his manager keeps trying (without causing a fuss of course)

Thing is there’s no benefit for Penrith to release him early and it helps us so they’ve got no reason at all to do it, same as eels with Stefano

For a ‘development club’ if they cared about his development they’d let him take up a FG role. They have their long term FB and five eighth. Yes it’s injury insurance but they’ve also got Burton, and Staines. I think he’ll end up here next year if they hang onto MB.

What’s more important one guy or their clubs chances of winning. Not saying I agree with it but it makes sense for them business wise. Guess we’ll have to wait and see
