Don’t forget that we’ve made enquires for the ice man. Either of those 2 would be choice however I’d say ice might come a little cheaper and has a history working with Madge through NZ team.

Ice man? Who is that? What am I missing?

Issac Lui

Just what we needed a few yrs ago(nothing has changed) ,but in his 30s and a decade plus tackling monsters is starting to take its toll, and is another one looking for a retirement plan from WTs
These generally dont end well for us

Good player but always cautious signing Storm forwards. Not many have done well after leaving.. would probably rather use the money elsewhere.

I feel Adam Blair set a bad name (he failed here but always made the starting line ups at Warriors/Broncos).

Proctor, Tohu Harris, Ryan Hoffman (Warriors), Glasby, McLean have all been the best in their teams after leaving.

Outside of forwards: Hampton, Mann, Drinkwater, WIddop etc have all done well at their clubs too.

I'd love to buy someone from the Storm sytem, Finucane would be the top of the list as a leader.

I understand we'll never be able to sign players in their absolute prime, but at 29 and looking for his final pay day... this has alarm bells all over it for me.

Good player, especially in a good system, but Im not excited by the link.

Happily give him 3 or 4 years at good coin. He would be so perfect for us, plays lock has ball skills works his ass off every game and is a leader plus an origin level player.

Doubt he joins us though ?

Can't give him good coin until @hobbo1 gives his 'plodder appraisal'. Otherwise we're in for another long 3-4 years.

Wrongness of head shape is a big factor

Pensioner looking for a farewell contract. A big no thanks

Sure he's getting older but his performances aren't getting worse... he's started getting picked for origin for the first time. He's not gonna break a game open but he ticks a lot of boxes for us and I doubt he wants ridiculous money.

He's in a position we need (lock) he has good ball skills, excellent defender, takes the tough carries well and is a leader and great bloke. I'd have a crack at him but if bulldogs offer ridiculous money I wouldn't compete with them too much.

Would provide some leadership on the field and coming from arguably the best system in the NRL. He'd be handy for our pack.

Box 1 = Overage
Box 2 = Overpaid

Those are the only 2 boxes i would say are ticked.Pass unless it is a 2 year contract on 300-350k.
let some other mug pay him too much for too long

I think this is a bit of a myth because honestly not many actually leave.

Kevin Proctor - He's probably been about the same tbh just in a worse team.
Tohu Harris - Has been awesome.
Tino Fa - He looks amazing this year.
Adam Blair - Yeah maybe.

I dunno... bit of a myth imo.

The only counter argument I have to your post is that I feel that game has moved away from a Finucane lock. At Prop, excellent, just not sure his style is suited to the new rules at lock. Maybe being used similar to Alex Twal has been as a starting bigger pack then transition in game to a smaller runner / playmaking forward.
Be interesting to see Melbourne’s line up going forwards, now that he is fit.

He has good passing, that's what most teams do with their locks. Melbourne often use him as a link man if he plays lock. He's definitely not as dynamic as other locks but I don't think we can afford a small lock until our defence and yardage down the middle fixes up

Who says he's overpaid? Like I said if someone wants to give him crazy money they can go ahead but a current origin forward is pretty good value at somewhere around $450k a year.

I really doubt we sign him anyway so I'm not too worried about it

He seems pretty busted at the moment, on his last legs, hey great player a few years back, but i'd stay away from signing him .. we dont need 'another' near retirement style player.

Good player. Would rather Nathan brown tbh but would certainly make us a better team. Obviously lots depends on price.

Saw on 7 news he's staying at eels
