By Wayne Cousins

IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale today spoke to Wests Tigers players about the importance of preparation and self belief.

A proud Wests Tigers Member who has been an active part of the club for the past few years in running boxing sessions for the players, Geale was invited by Head Coach Tim Sheens to speak to the team about how he became the first Australian professional boxer to win a world title fight in Germany by beating Sebastian Sylvester in a split decision.

The players also posed for photos with the new world champion and his belt before five-eighth Benji Marshall presented him with a personalised Wests Tigers jersey with 'Geale 1' on the back.

Geale will be a special guest of the Wests Tigers for the round 11 match against Penrith Panthers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday, May 21\. He will be introduced to the crowd and will show off his new world title belt.

I dont think self belief is our problem. The belief is there….......i think Geale should have spoken about how important it is to turn up when its showtime

Look forward to seeing Geale at C'Town on Saturday night he has achieved well for himself being an Australian world boxing champion AND if the team aren't having a go he can go into the dressing sheds at half time and give them a pep talk dominated by face slapping and cattledogging then they should be right for the second half!!

Haha, if anything too much self- belief (overconfidence) was our problem against Bunnies.

NEW world boxing champion Daniel Geale has stressed the importance of self-belief to Wests Tigers players as they try to find consistency this season.

Geale, who recently won the IBF middleweight title in Germany, was invited by Tigers coach Tim Sheens to address the team at training yesterday. The Tigers are eighth after four wins and five losses.

''The boys have just got to go out there and believe in themselves,'' Geale said. ''They've got it all there, they've got all the skills. It's just a matter of going out there and doing what they know they can do.''

''It's very exciting to have someone of Daniel's calibre at training,'' Marshall said. ''He really lifted the team's spirits, and to be able to draw off someone who's done what he has in his sport is great for us.''

Heighington added: ''We asked him a few questions about preparation and that sort of stuff. He doesn't leave any stone unturned, and he talked about believing in yourself and making sure you get everything right in the lead-up.''

Geale said he had always been a Tigers fan and was looking forward to being at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday for the game against Penrith. ''I'll always … lend a hand and support the guys,'' Geale said.

All year I've heard the tigers players saying they believe they have the squad, believe they have the experience, believe they have the coach, and believe in the high altitude chamber!!

Any more believing and they should move their training camp to hill song.

How about stop believing and start doing!!
