Dave Taylor

Ricky wants him at the Raiders. Thinks he can turn him around like BJ

Raiders are another team who keep on signing, re-signing and upgrading players, we are doing something very wrong.

Quoting Fox Sports….

Opposing teams can already hear the Raiders footsteps before they hit Northbourne Avenue with Junior Paulo and Shannon Boyd — a combined 245 kilos of prime beef — starting in the front row.

Should Taylor have a contract approved by the NRL and earn a run in Stuart’s 17, it would complete a trio of 120-kilo plus lime green behemoths.

Already their starting pack of Boyd (122), Paulo (123), hooker Josh Hodgson (97), Josh Papalii (112), Elliot Whitehead (106) and Sia Soliola (99) clocks in at an imposing combined 659 kilos.
Then the likes of Taylor, Joseph Tapine (107), Jeff Lima (105), Luke Bateman (100) and Clay Priest (95) are left scrapping for a spot on the bench, provided it doesn’t buckle beneath them.

All up it’s an 11-man rotation packing down at 1189 kilos, or the same size as a reasonably well grown black rhino.

Anything said about the Raiders' "pounds per man" is a lie, as Shannon Boyd is genetically bovine.

No idea why anyone would want him. He may be 120kg but plays like he's half of that. If he tucked it under the arm and carted it up he'd be a world beater but he tries to be a halfback.

Hmmm Sticky with a not-so-subtle gameplan: all-in for huge units. What will he do if the pace of the game changes to favour fast, mobile sides?

Highly unlikely that it will next year. The nrl needs to reduce the amount of interchanges again but in an increment of 4 reductions.Bring fatigue back into the game big blokes get it far to easy now.

I hate how most/all NRL clubs have become so desperate with attracting players to play for them, they are prepared to scrape the bottom of the barrel as far as the personality/character of people to play for them…no people/social standards apply when it comes to getting a player on their roster....yet in the real world that is the trait most employers look at foremost when hiring someone.....

Professional sport, particularly Rugby League, is a different beast.

Most of the clubs run at a loss, and rely heavily on results to get punters spending money on tickets, merchandising and memberships. That's why they put on degenerates who happen to be very good at what they do. Moreover, there's 15 other competitors, of which they'll likely only end up lining up at against you if you don't take them on.

I don't know about that. Corp. Australia has changed significantly over the years, integrity and honesty falls well down the list of traits employers are looking for. They want guys who have connections and a history of high results. Just take a look at the number of white collar criminals and the extent they go to rip people of their money.

Win at all cost! There is so much wrong with that ideology.

A low cost risk with plenty of upside if he can get his head right. A massive if. I can see why Ricky would want to take the punt, if he works out it just adds another beast to the already impressive Raiders pack. If he doesn't work out then so be it. They lose nothing.
