With Reynolds $ freed up, it would be smart to use some to top up noffa now and reduce the burden in future years. We might be contenders for top 8 this year, but I think we're building nicely for something greater in 22. That's where we want our cap space.

Was wondering something similar, whether Nofa knew Reynolds was leaving and that the club would have X amount of dollars available and is trying to capitalise from that ?

From what has been on this forum, it wouldn't make a difference although his manager may not have known. He either accepts the offer or he doesn't.

I really think we can’t afford Nofa, I love the guy for what he brings but I think he’s too expensive if he’s asking more than $325k. I really do.
Nofa hasn’t played rep footy or finals. Take a look at the 2 wingers chosen for the blues ahead of Nofa? Both on much less than he’s asking. JAC $375k and Tupou $220k. Our admin is on track now to deliver a well balanced cap. The horror of 2017 is well behind us now . Let’s leave it there..please?

Your numbers are way off

Which numbers?

Let’s not go there ATM as there definitely will be discussions Re Brooks next season , 2021will be his first season that the real pressure will be applied! This is make of move on time , this seems to be the vibe for the whole organisation at the moment... this off season is turning out to be a very different beast.

we have cash now the club should sit back and let nofo see what he can get and come back to us we can assess then
We need to use money wisely second row/ lock

I can tell you absolutely that the club want Nofoaluma to stay but will not pay one cent more than they believe he is worth. If Nofoaluma thinks he is worth more (which apparently he does) then he is welcome to hunt out a better deal. Our club is at last being well run and the leaders are leading. Players no longer pull the strings. We will soar soon - I’m very confident of that.

Nofa must realise that it’s not 2017, he could only be shopping around if he is prepared to go.

Actually the logic of Brooks is pretty sound and fits the situation with Nofa perfectly.

Nofa is not a SoO player and he is not that quality, therefore he cant expect or receive that standard of payment. Brooks likewise isnt anywhere near SoO and he isnt getting paid anywhere near SoO money. SoO halves are $1M+.

If Brooks is on $550k then yeh, I reckon he’s on the upper end of his true value imo.

It’s so frustrating that our CEO signed off on some contracts. Mbye at $950k, and Josh at $850k . We’re going to be paying $350 of his for next season by the sound of it.

You select a coach and he was paid as basically sole recruitment and coach, a bit hard then for the CEO to start overriding him from the get go.

At the very least, this new era makes it exciting for our young players who have a chance in the NRL with players potentially moving on.

I wonder who gave Iv carte Blanche on the distribution mix of the cap? Anyway, It’s a pointless discussion topic because those dark days are behind us, and soon the reminders will be but a distant memory.

I heard that number doesn't start with a 5 for Brooks it's a higher number, so yes he is way over payed for what he is delivering, in saying that I have said many times, the whole team will improve with Benji gone, Brooks being a big benefactor

It’s hard to imagine that Benji could have been anything other than a driving force, and a major influence on team culture and subsequently team spirit. He was 10-15 years older than most of the players , he had also outlived a few coaching failures. I’m looking forward to seeing Brooks have a full season with some younger, more enthusiastic players around him, but first he must unlearn everything. It’s not a good idea to throw the ball into the grandstand when things aren’t going your way.

I think it was standard, till clubs worked what the better clubs were doing.

BTW, with some of Ivan’s signing so far, he may still be doing it himself?
