Nofo Is a wholehearted Tiger
This is realistic especially compared to the rubbish players that have earnt more at this club and others in recent History.
Its such a no brainer to me
Are you sure he's not asking for more?
No mate Im not,
The Tigers are percieved to be a less desirable destination than any other club in the NRL at present. .
More thann anything else I want us to be a tough club on and off the field {melb like} but this sigmals how we treat the cream of our crop.
Realistically he is good winger. He is our.best and most recognised player now.
This descission is more than 100k
We cant allow nofo to be in another teams jersey.
We can at 600K +
I like Nofo a lot but the club needs to act as a professional business. If another club wants to pay those sort of dollars I wish Nofo the best playing for them.
$400k is a really good salary for a winger. He is a good winger. I like the guy a lot. We should try and keep him. Anything above 400k should be calmly thought through in the context of the teams requirements.
I think they could add a little more for Nofo's services and it doesn't have anything to do with one single solid year IMO. Every club has a 'face' or a 'representative'. For years we have had Benji Marshall, face of the Tigers and to some extent the NRL, and I have no doubt part of the value in his contract was for that reason. Attend more promo's than everyone, be the media 'go-to', get your face on the pamphlets, face on the tickets, big on social media etc etc etc.
I think Nofo is in that same space now. I'm actually happy to pay his $450K (if that's the number) and give you an extra $50K for the extra work and expectation.
From the outside, people then say "He ain't worth $500K!" and I agree, but his is worth $430 (as a player) plus an extra 70K for his additional exposure, services etc etc. All completely legal in salary cap land. Every club does it. It just means he will now be fully involved as a professional footballer AND providing those sometimes intangible marketing benefits. You have to hang aroudn the extra hour at the golf day, you have to share yourself around the supporter group more at fun days, you have to be ready for the media shoots, you have to do all the extras.
I keep coming back to Brett Morris. He's been a very good footballer for a long time. He played SOO and was a Kangaroo. Even in his twilight years he's a great winger. I'd be surprised if he us on similar $ to Nofoaluma. He's the benchmark for me and Nofoaluma is below him.
I agree, but there are other forces at play there. Im sure I heard on somewhere that the Morris' are only on 325K. I generally take these numbers with a grain of salt and whilst I agree on your assessment of Brett Morris, Nofo is worth more to WT than BM is worth to the Roosters.
And Morris is 34, Nofa is 27, at 27 Morris was earning a motza
Morris had also played representative football at 27 too and won a premiership and played in numerous finals games
And I would argue Nofa would have too if he played in the teams Morris played in
Brenko Lee has a premiership ring..who'd of thought..
And played origin
