@ said:The gist of what Pascoe is saying is that he refuses to let these 4 players ransom the club. Paying these players millions above there worth would mean that there is much less left to pay for future contracts on new and some current players. Wests Tigers have been following the path of signing players on overinflated money and very lengthy contracts for far too long. Just two examples are the contracts of Lawrence and Farah. Injury and/or loss of form means the club is stuck with paying wasted money associated with such contracts with wide ranging future financial ramifications to the club and its future existence. If the four players managers insist on squeezing the club into another long term financial disaster then let's cut ties and have a genuine clean out of the club, The club has to put a deadline to the players on this because every day the impasse lingers on opportunities for Wests tigers to sign new players are very quickly going out the window.

Taylor has now been sacked and his replacement could be in place within a fortnight, giving all parties clarity on the issue.

"The appointment of the coach is a decision we made as a club. If the players and management want to wait until a coach is appointed, that's their decision."
Wait a second…..........I just.. 😱pen_mouth:
The 3rd one is the one that got my attention, a lot of contradictions in there.

Not point having any ambition then i suppose?
Ambition and Wests Tigers don't mix I'm afraid at present

The Tigers have a history of mismanaging the roster and player contracts (in regards to length and dollars), and therefor it would be largely irresponsible of the club to be actively retaining, recruiting and releasing players without a coach appointed. As it stands with so much of the roster off-contract I don't think the club has the luxury of a 3 month recruitment process for a coach. It needs to be sorted within 3 weeks, not 3 months. All the top shelf off-contract players on the market are starting to sign and the Tigers are danger of losing some of it's own because of the current situation, in 3 months the only potential recruits left in the market will be discards, fringe and NSW Cup players. I still like to think we have the nucleus of a team that could push for a title within the next 4 years, and so the shaping of the roster around that nucleus over the next year or two is paramount.

That's a couple of posts now where you have been 100% bang on. You need to post more often.

1) Early April - Appoint the new coach in the next 1-2 weeks
2) End of April - Give the new coach a few weeks to decide who he wants to try and retain and what the contracts would look like in terms of dollars and length
3) Mid May deadline - Give the players a deadline; you'd have to give them at least a couple of weeks after we table our final offers.
4) End of May - Announce resignings after 10-day cooling off period (does that apply to resignings?).
After step 3 we can also go to market to find replacements for any of the players that leave.

The new coach shouldn't need a few weeks to decide who he does and does not want. He should already have a good idea coming in. If you start work at a new job, you should have done a bit of research on the organisation before you start. You don't get there and then start doing the research.
