Defense

For me, that was some of the most embarrassing defense I have seen in a long time. That wasn't clicking off at the end of the match, it wasn't putting the cue in the rack.

Soft and lazy. If not a finger is laid on the player does it count as a missed tackle?

I was furious with the defense on show around the middle and edge.

I would love to see a reply of who let them run straight through as I was at the game and didn't get a great look at the replays on screen.

Can anyone help me out with the missed tackles leading to tries.

Fui Fui ran between Farah and Ellis. Good to see Moltzen pull him down one on one, can't accuse him of being soft there.

Ben Roberts' break seemed to come after Liam Fulton was a bit lazy out of marker, and I think Ayshford missed him too

Tautai's break came after a bad defensive read from Ryan and maybe Blair.

that's the way I saw it. it was pretty shocking defence but still an improvement on the Souths game (lol) and at least we tightened it up in the 2nd half. We defended our line after two dubious 5th tackle penalties, it was good to see.

I thought Ayshfords defence had improved out of sight last night. He was making decent contact and lifted the ball player on a couple of occasions. I think Blake may be getting a little too big for the centres.

It seems to me that our defence is getting more slack as the season progresses, this will not do as we are getting to the meaty end of the season, what has happened, last season we were much improved with our defence, now we are quite hopeless. Please pick up your act lads :deadhorse:

You know the problem? we are defending badly on purpose because we think we can click come semis. gasiner said it himself its done on purpose because we think we can shock teams , problem is we actually have to make the semis first

Ayshford was great last night and one of our only good players against Souths, I thought

it's great he's coming into form, pity Lawrence isn't there on the opposite side :frowning:

Guys, i'm just sick of the fact for all our attacking genius, despite repeated talk from players, coaches that defense has to improve, we're still at square one. Now i haven't seen the game yet, which i will watch tomorrow, but listening on the radio, it was painstaking to hear us cut open at will. Steve Folkes improved things in his short time here but why is it that we fell back into old habits this season. Someone HAS to be accountable for this and it falls on both the players, the coach and his assistants. It's unacceptable really that this conversation still takes place. Someone has to be accountable for this.

The team doesn't defend as a unit

We dont seem to attack as a unit much these days as well…...it all seems very off the cuff.

But we all know we are not structured, we have one unstructured genius running the show, when he's on....like last night sevens/touch tournament...he's in his element.

Up against tough grinding well structured, well drilled communicative defensive units...we struggle.....its why weve not beaten a top 8 team all year, bar round 1's ref assisted lucky dip
