Yesterday whilst driving my young bloke to footy training where I coach, I seen Dene at the shops. Yelling from the car, Dene have you got a spare minute, he replied with his thumbs up. He waited for me to find a parking spot and then he greeted my young bloke. I asked him can he do a quick video on my phone congratulating my U10s team on finishing minor premiers and to wish them luck and hope they win the grand final. He helped out like a champion. He took his time, no rushing and I have to say, he is one of the most genuine person I have ever met. He looks fit and healthy and I applaud the WT on bringing this champion home.

PS Dene, if your reading this, how do I get the stars out of my young blokes eyes.

Thank you

Great story, sounds like a few minutes of Deneos time has ensured a lifelong supporter.

C'mon maniac, give yourself and your boys a rap too….whats the team?, give us all the goss....good luck in the semis

I know a family who went through a tragedy, losing a child with cancer. Dene supported the little fella through his terrible ordeal up until his last days. 100% nice guy.

Thanks Ink. The team is the East Hills Bulldogs
10/3 playing in the Canterbury Bankstown district. Three years ago, bar two of them, had never played footy before. First year lost every game except the last. Last week they became minor premiers. Played 14 won 12 lost 2\. Before last weeks game, Paul Gallen and Falcon Fenech gave their time to do a video for the kids, the kids were rapt, they seen their idols on my ipad just before running out to play, boy were they pumped. These two guys are also champion blokes. I also showed them that clip from the WT, promoting the fibros v silvertails, but reminded them no violence.
Went in concord yesterday trying to get Benji and Robbie, but I had just missed their training session. The lady took my details and said she will call me. I'm still waiting, fingers crossed.

Go the EAST HILLS BULLDOGS

Great post. Thanks for sharing. First thing, good luck to the young fellas!

Second, it is further evidence of quality decision making at the Tiges. Culture in any team (sport or business) is an essential ingredient to success.

Third, mate, great work getting all the videos done. The effort you put into those kids will be with them forever. You my friend are what makes this the greatest country on earth. People who genuinely want what's best for other people.

Go the Tiges. Go your young fellas

Dene Halatau is a Champion I went to school with him at Westfields Sports High and was a soft spoken character back then , so glad he's coming home .
Very nice thing he has done and doesn't surprise me 1 bit .
P.S this guy is absolutely ripped (cut up).

Thanks guys for the kind words. Can't wait to read all the compliments tomorrow at training you guys have given towards Dene. It will mean even more to the boys.

Another thing. Most players look bigger on tv than in person. Dene looks heaps bigger in person, and yes he's cut up big time.

Go the MIGHTY WT

A top bloke, I ran into him 2 years back, we were both at Crust Pizza, Concord and had some small talk with him, I mentioned his best game IMO was the 2005 Dragons semi and he smiled….and agreed!... he didn't mind chatting at all and was very giving of his time....seemed like a really down to earth genuine bloke...I'm glad he's home!

Wasn't thrilled to have him back at first, but looking at our back row, I think we'll need him and his experience. Welcome back Dene-o

Guys if anyone knows how I can post my videos on here through my phone, please Pm me, I'd love to share them.

Another thing. When I meet Gallen, after a speaking gig, he told a packed room, had NSW won this years series, we would have announced his retirement from rep footy.
Hang in there Robbie.

My bro-in-law and Deno share a mutual friend, as me and my boys are Tiger tragics, he asked if Dene could sign 3 Christmas cards for the kids. He wrote a personal paragraph on each card and then autographed 3 WT hats and passed them on as gifts. He's a gem, my kids even cheered for him as a Doggie. I'm rapt he's part of our Club again.

It's so good to hear a positive story about an nrl player. Top post mate. Good luck to your young fellas also.

He's just a really good player to have at your club in every way. His experience will be invaluable on-field and off-field he is just a really really good bloke.
