Depth is key for us: Sheens

I'M proud Wests Tigers finished in the top four in the past two seasons and I look forward to another exciting year.

The players have trained very hard over the summer to earn a place on the big stage at ANZ Stadium in October and we all can't wait for round one.

One of the most encouraging signs for our supporters is the depth and strength we have. Our NYC team made the finals last year and it featured a number of very talented kids who have what it takes to make the next step to the NRL - just as Aaron Woods and Matt Groat did last season.

Both have since consolidated their positions in the NRL squad. They will be our future stars and it is testament to our youth development program.

Woods and Groat will join leaders Robbie Farah, Benji Marshall and Gareth Ellis, who all continue to play important roles for the team.

We have also secured one of the game's best forwards in Kiwi international Adam Blair. His ability and experience will serve us well.

To further bolster our squad, we signed experienced players Joel Reddy and Matthew Bell. Joel's versatility will be invaluable and Matthew will add depth to our forward pack.

Off the field, we are fortunate to have the backing of an impressive array of corporate partners and the most passionate members in the NRL.

I know the boys love playing in front of packed crowds at our home grounds and seeing a sea of black, white and orange in the stands.

For those fans who are not yet members, we encourage you to join and be a real part of our team. As our catch-cry says, "Belong, Become, Be One".

The club has planned well to have reached the current point where our depth is as good as it has been. An important point will be Sheens using the depth to the optimum particularly in the fullback and half position. This could be a test for him if the debutants don't work out.

Fair point Dave, although I would say its 'if' it gets used that is the key.
If not then ur a good chance for a gf

The coach to hit some form…..what a load of rubbish.

simon do you agree with having a back on the reserve bench getting 3 mins of game time ?.do you agree there are some players who should have been dropped on form last year ? do you agree with playing players out of position.? what are your reasons for the Tigers coming up empty year after year ? we have had diffferent players come and go , but we have kept the same coach. what will your excuse be after this year?

Im happy with a top four finish every year.

We have the best coach and we are the best coached and well drilled team in the comp.

IMO the coach is the last person to blame for us not winning the comp.He could not have done more. Its been a critical play in the last minute of two games that has cost us.

Thats how footy goes sometimes.

I just dont rate anyone who cannot see this, and to be frank I am sick of the Sheens bashers that permeate these forums.

I cannot thank the bloke enough for transformimg a very ordinary team into a top four top shelf side.

Cheers.

Not a great reply, i don't think you answered any of my questions. ill never be happy with finishing anywhere but 1st, Not sure if the players do either.

Once again simon, you're pretty much on the money.
I also love the change that's come over our team with Coach Sheens at the helm.
And each year things get better.
Most fans love the way we play, the ball movement, the attacking style, and there again, we have the Benj.
And these things don't happen by accident.
Thanks coach.
Gotta luv the footy.
Gotta luv the Wests Tigers.

Depth is always a key to winning a premiership Throw in the fact I reckon we will get 2-3 playing Origin this season as well
We need solid back up also to cover any potential injuries

I think this is easily the strongest squad we have had going into any season and unless we have a massive injury toll we don't have too many excuses for not performing in 2012

All very true HT but incase u were implying otherwise we have performed outstandingly past couple seasons

No TL was not implying that Was disappointed we bowed out when we did in 2010 and 2011 but the guys achieved as much as could be expected

But in 2012 if we had an injury free run and finished 7th and got knocked out first week of the semis questions would probably need to be asked and answered

I've copped crap this year from some supposed footy experts who say we don't have quality depth.

I ask them what year is it, because in 2012 our depth is the best its ever been since the merger.
