One thing that has concerned most for a few years is how flat we look while attacking from all parts of the field. Our forwards and playmakers stand very flat to the PTB resulting in marginal forward passes.
For as long as I have remembered, Robbie has loved to have his playmaker metres behind the PTB and thrown it ahead of Benji to make him run the ball, we're not doing any of that since Sheens left. We just have a forward a couple of metres away hitting the ball up.
These guys have been playing footy for 20 years, it's not too hard to reach automaticity in catching and running the ball. The opposition loves us doing the one out hit-ups, it's making THEIR job easier. We need to spread the ball a bit more, not always towards the sideline but have more decoys running, pass the ball a couple more time in a set to stop the defensive line from advancing.
I know Potter spoke a lot about "earning the right to play on the other end" but you can't earn that right by earning 5m a run- you need to put pressure on the defense . We're just going through the motions, as the commentators say "it's all pre meditated" and that's fine for a couple of tackles to get us into the position but you can't do one out hit ups for every tackle and every set- forget boring, it's just not how you play or win footy gamees IMO.
JT is supposed to be a 'tactician' but it'd be stupid of him to think that we can win footy games with this game plan.
