Despite the criticism, Our record with Moltz at fullback

IMHO, Moltzen at FB often did not work. His big asset is speed, but we see it once a blue moon.
He does not contest high ball, and provides very little support in offence. He often looks disinterested, and does not pull his weight. His defence is acceptable, however, most people will remember his attempt to tackle Inu (last year) and nearly identical one of Parra's player (the last game).
My preferred FB is Tedesco, and I agree with some comments here that we shall replace 'like with like', so my pecking order would be: Tedesco, Humble, Meaney, Rudolph, Rowe, Ryan.
I do not see him as our 'utility player' either, IMHO Utai or Iosefa offer much more impact from the bench.
By saying that, I will be more than happy if he gets MOM in every game this season

Go Tigers

Good post ibwt, rational, logical & head over heart

Wright? Mullaney? Zillman? All but Zillman are reserve grade players, playing up. If you think
that Moltzen is a better fullback than Zillman, well I guess we are all entitled to our own
opinions.

GNR, I remember back to the off season and everyone was talking about how good this Tedasco kid is. How he is a star and how great he is going to be at fullback, my husband even asked me if he should pick him in his supercoach side.( He picked him by the way, and wasn't happy when he got injured) Why in the hell would i care if Tedesco is fullback ?? why would i be threatened by Tedesco??? i think Moltzen should be halfback or 5/8th i'm not at all happy that he went back to fullback. That is just silly.

I have never said Moltzen is a cat . I have never said he is talentless

Moltzen's best position is 6 and when he wants Benji is arguably one of the top No 6 in the world so we don't need him there

If I have to say it again If Moltzen can find the form he displayed the last 8 weeks of 2011 you won't hear boo from me

But if every Moltzen lover can be absolutely honest with themselves he is no way even close to that form

And in my opinion (based on many years of playing the position) Tedesco is a born fullback and in 2-3 yeara when we talk about fullbacks (barring injury ) it will be Tim who and we will talk about Teddy the same way we talk about Woods

I love Timmy and I totally agree with you, he is in a rough patch and he probably knows it but ATM he is the best for FB.
Teddy will definitely be our no. 1 next season, so let's hope Moltzen finds some form to still play in the 17 next season

Oh please.

I don't hate Moltzen, but I'm not his biggest fan either. For those who think the people that have been harsh on him all year should be eating their words after waiting 23 rounds for a solid performance… you're having a laugh.

Everyone knows Moltzen is capable. He's just been under-performing for far too long.

With Moltz in at fullback we are 9 from 13, without 1 from 7.

Time to update those stats.

Zero - No Wins against Top 8 teams when Molzen is fullback..Souths Round 5 played Fullback Lost.
Brisbane Round 6 played Fullback Lost.
Melbourne Fullback - Lost. Canterbury Fullback - Lost

All Top 8 teams when Moltzen has played Fullback - Lost Lost Lost

Ive supported Moltzen all year but as you look back he's probably had 4 or so good games all year and maybe half a dozen average ones at best.

And as someone said, he is the worst fullback on the comp and anyone who said he's better than Zillman isn't watching the same game. Zillman, who is still the second worst fullback in the NRL, has won his team a number of games this year. Moltzens only impact is if he gets put through a hole.

Sorry but i just have to do this after tonight"s game. How do you spell Moltzen? SUPERSTAR…..

:roll

Gold.

Lol funny stuff. Moltzen supporters are exactly the same as Hayne supporters. Both guys only produce 5 or 6 decent games a season, but when they do all the fanboys come out of the woodwork rubbing it in all the critics faces, then the moment they do nothing go back into hiding

Moltz has his moments in first grade.
How many starring moments has Tedesco had in first grade - none.

So for now Moltz > Tedesco.

Tedesco is a nobody until I see him do something worthwhile in first grade. Ditto for all the other juniors.

I never would have seen that honestly. But a clear correlation. When he isn't at fullback though, he has been at halfback (and injured) so in saying that we could be losing games when he plays in 7\. Which is his preferred position. Think you could find stats with him at 7 Goose?

Moltzen gets a ridiculous bagging on here, IMO very unfairly.

Over 2011/12 the period where Moltzen has been most heavily bagged we have a significantly better record with Moltz at fullback.

This season Moltz has played 13 games at fullback, 7 games with someone else. (counting the game against Newcastle as a miss, given that he left after 10 minutes)

With Moltz in at fullback we are 9 from 13, without 1 from 7.

In 2011 Moltz at fullback we won 10 from 14, without 5 from 12

So over the last 2 years we have a 70% success rate with moltz at fullback and 31% with him out.

So as much as everyone seems to bag him, we win more with him in, and 46 games is a reasonable statistical base for comparison.

Perhaps he offers something you guys dont see….or perhaps you are overly critical

anyone can make up statistics…75% of people know that
one other point about those stats from those seasons is how well benji , farah , lawrence and ayshford etc were playing . I think those guys have more infulence on our teams performance then moltzen .

Bit harsh on Hayne comparing him with Moltzen, I support Moltz but lets be realistic here Hayne is a fair way ahead of him.

Not to keen on another Moltzen shitfight so i'll just say this; He looks great when the teams firing, not so when the team isn't. That sentiment pretty much epitimises our whole team, particularly this season
