Did the players know?

They all knew it 100%
I rekon they knew it on monday night that something was going down & Cam Smith played like he had something on his mind. Its believed he was on the take more than the others & the ATO might want a bit of that money back

Football clubs are like political parties they have plenty of leaks, maybe a few young naive players fresh from the bush knew nothing but the vast majority would have along with Craig Underbelly. I think our friends from the ATO will have a few people running scared at present. The old saying live by the sword die by the sword. Hard to feel to sorry for them

The hierarchy, the coach, the players taking the brown paper bags and their managers would have known about the unauthorised payments. Other paid staff would have known to varying degrees. My old mate the taxman is sitting in the corner like a good little dog wagging his tail waiting for the command to attack.

You can't tell me the players that were receiving these payments didn't know, yes they have managers etc sorting the finer details of their contracts out but you mean to tell me they don't keep track of how much they earn.
It's not a matter of knowing how much your team mates are on its knowing how much you are on a year and then realising your getting way more than that at the end of the year.

They won't publicly admit it and will play it dumb and try and make us think they were just naive and say that they trusted their managers and the club were doing the right thing but i won't buy it. Everyone knows what they earn and when the is more money than expected you want to know how it got there who put it there and why.

Yes everyone knows what they earn…..Do you know what everyone else earns?????

That is their defense....Prove to me TIGER......Cooper Cronk knows how much Cammy Smith earns or Billy Slater earns of Greg Inglis earns and so on.....and then he would sit down and say it doesn't add up.....

How much do they earn......does anyone know?

Who cares if they don't know what each other is earning. Wouldn't these rorting match benefits be flaunted to them and their managers as a way of the club retaining them? their core group didn't change over that period of success for which they've been penalised. Plus - they are not as idiotic as people make them out to be. As convenient and popular as the stereotype of them being ignorant and aloof may be for them right now - a player earning over 300,000 dollars a year gets bank statements, and knows how to check their deposits/withdrawls. I wouldn't buy into their playing dumb for a second.

They don't have to prove it in that respect though.

If there is a ledger of Cash payments made it casts major doubt over the integrity of players who received them. If they did not declare these as earnings than it is further bad news for their credibility.

Alot more has to become clear in this before facts are established I feel

The point is though…who has said that they have recieved money above what they signed for....that is pure speculation....

In the 2000's Rorting has come much more sophistocated....the brown paper bag days are long gone....

More than likely would be filtering of money through player agents one would feel or donations to charity of a fully tax deductiblenature and allowing the players to claim it as a tax offset.

Many ways

Sure, admittedly I have a pretty general knowledge of the whole thing. but hasn't it become pretty clear, and widely discussed over the past 3-4 years that their playing roster could simply not exist within the constraints of the salary cap? I know that its conjecture…unproven., etc. I guess time will tell...

It is clear that certain players have been paid over the allowed amount, whether this was an incentive in their retention - well that will expose people.

The brown paper bag is a term used for people on the take. It is still used to describe what's going on between parties no matter how the monies or goods are passed on be it electronically or otherwise.

My question on this is if this was YOU would you know about it.. dealing with money that's yours….I know my answer.

Everyone knew. Simple. The fans have known just didnt have a way to prove it. If they have all done this before, whos to say they havnt thrown a game for big $$$'s. The integrity of belly is now in the bin. Wouldnt it be funny if it came out that he coached NSW to loose origin so his melb players in the QLD squad could get more bonuses  rofl there dirty cheating pieces of shit.

If a player signs for $700,000 but the club has a book that says he only earns $500,000 then the player might not now. I think some might have had a feeling though because of how much talent they have in the squad.

Did you read my post, it's not about knowing what other players are on and trying to do your sums to figure out whether you team as a whole is over the cap. It doesn't take a wizard to figure out what players this money was being spent on. If YOU were one of these players signed to say $400,000 contract but were earning alot more than that a year wouldn't you wonder where and why the extra dough.

FTR…I believe the senior players new...

The Storm Chairman has come out and said if player A signed a contract for 400K that's how much the got including the plasma's freecars and what not.....It's what they reported to the NRL as part of their salary cap was bodgy....Players can earn income in other ways that's not included in the salary cap.....other stuff needs to be.....

That is the Players and Coaching staff's defense....do I believe it...not for 1 second...

Can I prove it no....which was my question to you...
