Dodging the Benji Bullet

I think he is already trying on his sharks jersey for size.

And despite what others have said, if he plays for another NRL club, I don't wish him any luck or good fortune. Once you don the colours of the enemy, you become the enemy.

Benji seems like a decent guy, he is someone I used to worship, and I'll never forget what he has done for the Tigers, just don't expect me to cheer him on while he plays for another club.

I loved him from day one, Was a great player & i think Tauber was the problem & got greedy. I could not support him @ another Team though. I can only see two teams he might go to, Sharks or Panthers.

dodging the benji bullet.. sounds like someone in row 10 dodging his kick or pass.

wish him luck wherever he goes. i thought he'd make it in union but i guess i was wrong. cant believe his last 2 years- he's gone from so much to such little.

I say take him on for a small sum, use him off the bench for this year ONLY to sell himself by his performances to a prospective buyer?

I was told by a very UNreliable source that the Rabbits are keen and have cap space for the rest of 2014.

With Benji deciding to part with us last year enabled us to resign Simona and a few of the other young kids, also allowed us to steer the club into another direction. We now play are very direct and physical style of football, with percentage football being the main aim. Win the middle and than play controlled expansive football.

Iam not sure Benji has the skills to compete week in and week out in the NRL now that his blistering speed is gone. He can still throw a pass that no one else can throw, mixed up with one into the grandstand at a crucial time in a game.

So glad we made a break when we did, but also sad to see Benji career winding down

I heard on the low down that the guy in the Tigers mascot suit is happy to stay on, thus I cannot find a place for Benji within the organisation.

Your description of our revised shape is spot on. No more drifting or low percentage plays, there's an emphasis on directness and field position. If you don't relish contact you won't make Potter's squad and I regret to say that Benji hasn't enjoyed that part of the game for a few years

Benji's future could be with the media, if he gives it a go. Like anything, he may have to start somewhere. He has been badly managed and way overestimated himself. The writing was on the wall, he has slowed down which affected his all round game. His thinking time has slowed, opportunities gone, he hasn't learned that.Look at things from the bright side, a direction everyone has to face one time or another, better now than later.Benji has been a star and closed to our hearts, we wish him the Best.

someone will pick him up…

heard that Dragons are interested (given they have no halfback makes sense I guess) and surprisingly the Storm are interested.....

Storm surprised me, but I wonder how he would go if all the organising was done and he could just attack....dont know.

I think he immense talent, and not sure he is as washed up as many are saying....

im a Storm man and we have no real 5/8 so he wouldnt look bad in our team….on a low budget obviously.
Our defence is horrible this year and that would be my only concern.

lol, struggling man for man defending… thinks Bunji is a good pick up on any coin.

Greg Alexander said earlier tonight that the doggies might be interested in him as a fullback.

Plenty of people have suggested over the years that fullback may be his best position. What many don't realise is that you need an enormous level of fitness to play fullback, and Benji is definitely short of a run at the moment.. Would take a good 4-6 weeks to get him match fit, and at this stage of the season may not be worth the punt.

Hampton?

Amazed at the publicity he's generated by dogging it with the Blues, just goes to show me the majority of people havent been watching him too closely these last few years, starstruck by a highlites reel instead

This has been my prediction also.

Its where he fits in the modern game.

Does anyone really see Benji putting himself on the line under a high ball or doing the same being the last man in defence

Or diving at the feet of an attacking player when defusing a grubber kick when you know your gonna get hurt

He will get taken apart as a fullback in the NRL

Problem is Benji just wants to play football as Benji wants , not what the team or the coach wants or needs

He has lost two coaches faith in him within 6 months , not a good sign

If Benji wants to play football the Benji way… He should go to Italy or France.
Gower loved it. The rugby is very flamboyant. His Misses would love the shopping.
He could wear beanies more often. The stadiums in France hold 60-80 thousand mad singing Frenchmen. I can see him fitting in. He's never going play international rugby or league again. Why not go out having some fun along the way.
