Does Anyone Feel the Same?

I'm only new to this forum but does anyone get the feeling Phil rothfield from the tele has it in for us and will do anything to destroy our season?

i agree to a point, and also feel its that paper as a whole that would love to see us fail. for whatever reason, who knows, but they have never been backward in coming forward to promote rep selections for players from teams such as parra, sharks, dragons, bulldogs, roosters and knights.
They were the first to push for ennis before anyone considered him anything more than an average first grader and the first to push the kurt gidley for nsw captain, back when he was considered a bench utility option at best for origin.
Both of those "campaigns" worked a treat. at the time i choked on my cornflakes laughing at both of those articles.
I honestly believe that blokes like heighington , galloway , lawrence and even gibbs would have played origin by now if they had played for one of the teams the telegraph love. and ofcourse farah would be an automatic selection had he played for one of those clubs.
But all of that, whether im just paranoid or not, makes me even more a wests tigers fan.

I also notice they jump all over benji when he has an off game, but you never hear rothfield bagging his beloved sharks, even though they stink

If Rothfield had to bag the sharks for all the crap they served up over the past few years he would not have time to write about anyone else!

Id rather the tigers weren't talked up by all and sundry, however, they seem to beleive a lot of it when it happens and poor results can follow. Seem to play better if people write them off.

What made 05' so special?

not many injuries in the second half of the year helped. players in key positions playing their best: hodgo, benj, prince, farah

Yep thats it :exclamation: Season 2005 was a pretty normal season from what I can recall, no disruptions, very few injuries and we were largely left alone by the media, as I guess we were a "no hope" team to win the GF, and we did
I am thinking that after last weeks effort against the Dragons, we HAVE turned the corner, and will win more games than we lose from now on 😛ray:

i find it hard to believe that nothing has happened behind the scenes since the bye…even if its something as simple and petty as 1 of the players stealing anothers car park at training...they didn't play like they did against Souths and Penrith for no reason...alien that is an awseome pic btw

Haven't a few of our players had run ins with some telegraph "journalists"? Also I think sheens has a dislike for that rag and encourages his players, staff ect. to ignore them. Could be that.

Also I believe Josh massoud was shouted out of the dressing room after a game last year after one story he wrote.

Personally I don't pay much attention to the telegraph, there is no doubt they have their own agendas. Bottom line is we need to give them no reason to have a dig at us and that means we start performing, now. Make the hacks eat their words

1 thing thats never left my mind is the article Massoud wrote about the tigers after the 05 GF saying that he's over hearing about the tigers and hopes the tigers bandwagon crashes and burns…low life germ

If this is all true, then the rift between us and Tele is to our detriment, not theirs. The media has a massive influence on rep selection - you only have to look at the team chosen tonight to see that's true. None of our players have gotten a look in for SOO honours for 2 years now and counting - you can't tell me this isn't affecting those players on the fringe of selection, mentally, and the persistent negative press is affecting the whole team's performance. Meanwhile, the DT rolls on unscathed, and continues to be the biggest selling paper.

the DT couldn't care less about any of the negative publicity they get coz at the end of the day they sell newspapers and thats all they worry about

Yeah well read the Sun-Herald and Danny Weidler's tidbit about the Wests Tigers. That seems to be pretty spot on :frowning:

How about the team forget about all the crap outside of footy which they can't control, and play footy like their getting paid to do. These guys are getting paid good coin to play sport. When it's game day surely the other crap is forgotten for the moment and you come out and give your all!! If not for yourself, for your mates and the paying fans!!

Maybe I'm cynical, but at the end of the day they all know how to tackle pass and kick!! They practice all day every day 40 weeks a year!! No excuses. Just go out, roll the sleeves up and have a dig for 80 minutes.

Im going to throw a spanner in the works here and disagree with this entire topic. Firstly I think stuart is a dope but a good coach. Not picking any of our players well farah again played fairly injured at the start his form and the teams form has been so erratic the tigers have had more ups and downs then a yoyo, and personally lawrrance farah are the only two good enough for origin galloway is a red pillow at times highno isawesome but doesnt bend the line as he should. Too much shuffling before the line, last week was the best he played in a long time. Now back to our form, we are in a good position better then last night, think about the disruptions injuries criticism from media & FANS and look where we are, better then half way point of 2010 season people were tearing up memberships and look where we ended up lol we are playing disgusting still sitting on the 8 and as always make a strong run home, I assure all you loser hopers of our team we will come good towards the end and also our home record is unreal at cambo and LO and all our home games are there till the end of the year except the scg.

Think of it this way, last year if origin was played the week after gf tigers and dragons players would flood the blues team (if it wasnt corrupt and actually picked on form) CHIN UP everyone!!!!!!!!
