Does size matter?

Hope not.

Out of all the teams we only have 3 players in our top 25 that are 190cm and above. The least of all the clubs.

The majority of clubs have at least 7/25 players. Notable teams are Souths 12/25, Melbourne 11/25, Dogs 10/25 and Cowboys 11/25.

Yes.
It has been an issue for us that we have all three of Moses, Brooks and Kevvie in the defensive line, with only average sized forwards to help them. I reckon it was a reason that Cherrington didn't work out - we couldn't handle using another small body.

So maybe not so much that we're not monsters, but we have too many lightweights?

Also our middle-metres were terrible which might point to not having enough big boppers/too small average size.

Yeah well they do say that size does matter….but I remember years ago someone told me its not the size that matters its the motion in the ocean that counts. Which in leymans terms means, if everyone puts in (pardon the pun) things will work out just fine.

Yes it matters to an extent.

Lucky our juniors coming through are now all much bigger. The likes of Paseka, Tatola, Suli are signs we're starting to learn. Recruiting juniors who are a good size rather than midgets who play well in lower grades but will be unlikely to have an impact in the NRL.

It's hurt us the most in the backs as we've not only had players who aren't 190 odd cm, but several who are under 180cm. It's hard to defend in the air when there's such a difference.

Of course you don't want size just for size's sake. Steve Trindall was big but never had much impact.

im not sure height matters as much in the NRL. I would rather a pack of strong players with speed or footwork at the line. Core strength to push through the line and technique in defence.

Only advantage IMO is reach and possible the ability to get arms free to offload.

We don't have line outs or short kick offs like union. Pack weight doesn't matter cause we don't really contest the scrums neither.

Yeah, but with no money. So, he's mainly had to sign players that other clubs don't want, like ET or Tim Grant and try and tie up youngsters like Liddle, JJ and Suli.
