We keep hearing about the silent majority, Clinton got the majority of votes she just did not get enough of the college votes. It was a case of the small rural towns beating the big cities.

You can still decide not to vote if you so wish.

I've never understood the concept that not voting is making a statement. No, not voting means you are not having your say, vote the third party candidate if you don't like the two main choices.

Say what you want about compulsory voting, but I believe it is the best system as everyone is forced to have their say and you have an accurate reflection of what the electorate wants.

Compulsory voting is corrupt in the system of preference deals… in a true and democratic country with free speech you have the right to vote if you choose.
You get the REAL indication of the peoples will when you are not made to vote .

Yet after those people have had their "REAL" vote, the one with a lesser number of the overall votes gains power, so hardly true and democratic.

Electing someone with less than 50% of the vote isn't democratic either. FPTP artificially reduces the true support for minor parties and distorts the will of the majority.

This is my point , you can't go from sticking your fingers in every pie that was world issues to becoming a mercenary country who will only come in when the political or monetary price is right
