Don't question Tigers attitude: Sheens

Less than a fortnight after questioning his team's desperation to win games, Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens says attitude is not the problem at the hopeful NRL finalists.
The Tigers are currently clinging to eighth spot on the competition ladder after Monday night's 51-26 victory over Parramatta which followed five losses in six games.
That win came a week after the pre-season favourites were humiliated by South Sydney 32-6, which prompted Sheens to tell his side they needed to be as desperate as their fellow finals aspirants if they wanted to play September football.
But despite missing a massive 39 tackles against the Eels, Sheens could not fault the turnaround in effort he saw from his playing group following the Souths debacle.
"The attitude's not the problem otherwise we wouldn't have won the game," Sheens said on Friday.
"… the fact that we kicked back (after trailing early against the Eels) just shows that we had the attitude.
"Otherwise at 18-6, 22-6 you get beat. The attitude was there.
"They were disappointed in just a misread (in defence) here and there amongst the group.
"It wasn't an attitude thing amongst the group. You can smell that. You get beat by 40 otherwise."
With just four matches left in the regular season Sheens admits there is already a finals-type atmosphere in the NRL and that will certainly be the case when they face modern day rivals St George Illawarra on Saturday night at Allianz Stadium.
The Dragons sit just two points behind the Tigers on the ladder and this result could have a dramatic impact on the run to the finals for both teams - a loss to the Dragons could all but end their season - ensuring the intensity will be of a finals standard.
"Winning it is not going to assure us of a semi-final. And certainly losing is going to make it harder but it's not going to stop us either," Sheens said.
"There's no doubt with a month to go you can smell semi-finals. You can smell the big game atmosphere amongst the players and in the game generally."
The Dragons top eight hopes took a hit with their surprise loss to Sydney Roosters last round, but Sheens is aware that his group can take no opponent lightly and afford very few slip-ups in the run home.
"We certainly won't run St George down with a 20-6 lead, but it won't be through lack of attitude I can tell you that," Sheens said.
