Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi has been voted by his teammates as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year for the 2021 NRL season.

After a stellar season, Doueihi took out the award narrowly from Daine Laurie and Alex Twal, who all polled well in voting done by the players.

Doueihi had arguably the best individual season of his young career, as he recorded a personal best nine tries and 69 goals — totalling 174 points — in 20 matches, as well as recording nine line-breaks, 52 tackle-breaks, 22 offloads and 17 try assists.

The local junior also ran for an average 105 metres a game and recorded 309 tackles (avg. 15.5) with an efficiency rate of 83.3 percent.

Cementing his position in the halves towards the backend of the season, Doueihi also featured and performed well in the centres on six occasions in 2021 and was always willing to put the team first.

His season came to an end in Round 23 against Cronulla as he suffered an ACL injury, which will rule him out of the start of the 2022 season — however, he is recovering well following surgery.

Not only did Doueihi star on the field, but he also was nominated for the NRL’s Ken Stephens Medal for his community work.

Doueihi was nominated for the prestigious award, which recognises the efforts of an NRL player who has not only achieved on the field, but also committed time off it to community projects.

Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Adam on his award!

Well done Adam, definitely in the top 3 or 4 players in the team. Part of a core to build around. I wish I knew his best position.

Awesome.

Our best player. Would be very surprised if he doesn’t win the big award too.

Douiehi also took out the 2021 Wayne Pearce Community award..

Congratulations Adam, thoroughly deserved.
Adam has been a wonderful addition to the club and I hope he will be with us for many years. I cannot think of a better person to be made captain, just do it.

Good to see the players can recognise which of their peers are playing well and putting effort in unlike our coaches.

Brooks not in the top 3 in this award tells us how out of touch our coaching staff are by awarding his their player of the year award

Really hope that Kimmorley could drop in from time to time and speak to Adam about making smaryter decisions in attack ...learn to read an opposition defence more thoroughly .....

You would think he'd start with Brooks.

Well done AD - a much deserved accolade for our best player in 2021.

Let's hope he is treated better than Momo.

If they move him from 5/8 to centre that'll prove they have learnt nothing.

I think Doueihi is too happy about it, well any of the Wests Tigers players IMO.

I could be looking to much into it, but other clubs and their players all post massive social media posts about winning things ect, but our guys - sometimes nothing.

Its just like winning a trophy in a crap side, you are thankful, but you know you could be alot better hahah.

Wise words.
Thanks Russ.
