Wow..........No wonder Sheens tries to keep the gameplan alive......
We held the ball.......and dismantled the Dragoons defence......they had nothin......
No. 1 game for me as well.......

Aside from our halfback, we have a better side now IMO.
In addition to Ellis, Galloway, Lawrence and Tuiaki, we have a older and wiser Farah and Marshall.
The loss of Prince (or more specifically the lack of a replacement) crippled us.

best game ever
i must admit at the time i was pretty one eyed in supporting the tigers and really rubbished away the dragons team but looking back on paper and by all rights the dragons should have won it
watching the game tonight we really played like underdogs ie a team with no fear - keeping the ball alive and keeping the defense on line and aggressive
halatau was devastating, had he kicked on he and farah would have made a dandy coupling

One thing I've almost forgotten was our forwards were a lot poorer then they are now with their go forward, even though we beat the Dragons, they dominated the ruck when we had the ball in that match and it was our quick passing and some offloads that got us up field… Except for that one occasion where they let Gibbsy through for a linebreak from the kickoff :laughing:
P.s Did anybody notice that Michael Ennis is no better as a player now then what he was back then.... Hey he even set up Barrett's try back then so I guess he was better then because he did something :wink:

Possibly but that 2005 team was all about combinations. EG
- Richards and Elfords (id take richards and elford in 2005 over lawrence and tuiaki in 2009\. elford read the game beautifully and gave richards all the space and time he needed)
- Whatuira/Hodgson chasing princes and farahs kicks. (how many players our hanging off our kickers shoulder these days? im sure we have the least amount of tries scored off kicks, while in 05 we would of had a very high rate of it)
- Laffranchi and Farah
- Hodgsons support play off anyone
- O'Neill (yes o'neill) used to give marshall and farah space by running at the line then pegging it back
- the halves combination….non existant since the gf.
These days we have absolutely nothing.

Wow, how good did we play…. Haven't seen us do so many offload since.
It's a pity Deno couldn't keep up that destructive form.
As said , very poor editing by Foxtel...what is wrong with showing a game like that in full.

My brother taped every single game in the finals series, plus the post match celebrations of te GFand all the celebrations on the night at the various leagues clubs. He also taped the news reports the next day.
He put them all on to dvd (3) and made them for all the family, I told him at the time he should see if any fans would be interested in getting their hands on them.
