Dwyer has always been a big hit

HIS big boy puts on the big hits, but Paul Dwyer owns all the memories.
The NRL world has been abuzz with excitement since Simon Dwyer's unforgettable bell-ringer on Jared Waerea-Hargreaves last Saturday night, but his father knew about the 21-year-old's lethal shoulder long beforehand.
"If you look on the internet, I've even put a few hits from his time in the lower grades on YouTube," says Paul, who also coached Dwyer for five straight seasons at the Ingleburn Bulldogs as a teenager.
We dutifully fire up the search engine and there, indeed, is a young behemoth in a Wests Magpies jersey belting the tripe out of a hapless ball-carrier.
"He's done it a few times - hits like that were trademark ever since he was allowed to shoulder charge in the under-15s," Paul continues.
"I spoke to him before [the Roosters] game and mentioned the word 'intensity'.
"I'm still so proud that he went out there and put on a hit like that at such a crucial stage of the game.
"I've probably watched it 200 times! It's even on my phone."
Ironically enough - given tonight's lime green opposition - the Tigers back-rower was inspired to play football by Raiders great Laurie Daley.
"Simon loved Laurie and Mal Meninga," Paul reveals.
"There's still a poster of Laurie here on the wall at home.
"He actually started playing at five-eighth and then moved to the centres. And he played a lot like Laurie. He was a warhorse. He'd never give up. He also had incredible pace for a big man."
Dwyer is Ingleburn's first NRL graduate.
"The Wests Tigers have been a dream bringing him through."
