Eels Drama

It will get worse before it gets better for Parra.

^ This. This stuff about "Parra will be desperate" is nonsense. They were desperate against the Sharks last week. They will be lucky to score a try whilst I see Brooks and Thompson having another big game.

Why would they be more desperate than us. They played softer than a pilchard after an hour with no bites and WE were robbed.

Para can get stuffed. If we go with their intensity for 10 minutes and better them, they will crumble. They have too many guys hiding amongst the footballers in their team.

Parra will struggle with our front row. Packer, Mats, Twal, Eiso, Aloai will over power Mannah, Alvaro, Terepo, Brown, T Rex.

We will dominate in the middle however, Parra have the edge in the second row with Mau, Meroa, Brown. If Lawrence, Rochow, Eiso can hold their own and we keep Jennings contained it will be a long day for the Eels.

Whats the odds on Moses fixing his hair while watching himself on the big screen in the first half?

I’m not a vindictive man - really. I don’t boo and only rarely write stupid emotional posts
But…........ I hope we hurt That slime dog Moses physically, mentally and any other way possible.
Ahh, that feels better!

I honestly reckon that's nonsense, that a club who is on a losing streak are closer to a win. There are teams that finish last every year for a reason, and they don't become more or less dangerous just because they've been losing a lot.

Or to put it another way, I'd much rather play a side that's lost 5 in a row than a side that's won 5 in a row.

Every team is closer to their next win every week!

Not really..there are losses and draws that can be closer, thats the beauty of sport

I toss a coin 5 times and I get 5 heads…the sixth toss is the same odds Tails will come up, as the first toss isnt it?

That said, a team 0-3 to start a season will probably be a bit more desperate than a team that won by 50 the week before
They wont be easy

Yes, really, it is a simple fact that any team, whether they are losing, drawing or winning, is always getting closer to their next win…....... or loss or draw. Whether that event, win loss or draw, will happen in the next game may be difficult to predict but one of them will happen, so any team is always getting closer to their next win, loss or draw, even if the result that you are looking for doesn't happen (in this case, a win) in the next game or the next season.

What you say about a coin toss is true, ie the odds are always the same for each toss but it can be safely assumed that, if you toss the coin for long enough, a tail will eventually come up, therefore the longer you toss that coin the closer you get to a tail coming up. However, football games are not random coin tosses, given that we make the assumption that teams are actually trying to win, so every week will bring that team closer to a win at some time in the future. For it to be otherwise, you must make the assumption that the team in question will never win again….ever.

It’s not that simple.
Coins don’t have attitudes or emotions or desire’s or much else than round edges.
50/50 is the best odds a coin will ever get.
You can’t say the same for a football team.\

You rattle Moses early he’s gone for the game….

Norman is who I’m scared off

Re Moses not necessarily. In the World Cup against Aussies he was heavily put on his arse after a kick but came back solidly.

And lost 34 nil. I'd take that this week.

But it was only a 10 point lead at half time which was a terrific result at that stage. The score only blew due to more than half the Lebo team not being fully fit as they were not professional players but park players. I would like to see WT take on the Aussies and see if they can hold them to a 10 point lead at half time. This board was predicting that Moses would be trod into the turf on but he held up beautifully. Their half back wasn't had either.

Sooner of later these guys are going to beat someone, I just don't want it to be the Tigers - Ivan needs the team to re-focus and hopefully our execution in attack starts to improve.

Yeah,I’d rather play them when there wasn’t so much drama around them,

I think both sides will start strong and it'll be like Brisbane last week, both sides getting ball but it will come down to who can hold possession and not make small errors, give away penalties the longest. The second one of the sides drops intensity, the game will be spelled out. I think our forwards have the muscle and the legs over the Eels to carry us over the finish line.

Yes, that's what I said. Don't know why everything is underlined.

There were signs against Brisbane to be worried about.

The Eels if they get a sniff early could clean us up. It’s not going to be an easy game at all. There will be emotion and given our lack of points we can’t keep thinking we will defend teams to no points.

I’m actually worried about this one

If we defend like Rds 1-3 then I can't see Parra getting a sniff, and even if they get a sniff, I don't see their form being so good as to warrant a clean up.

Why can't we keep thinking we will defend teams to no points? I've said this before, that's exactly the wrong / old mentality of the Wests Tigers. If Ivan can get the team believing they have the ability to keep every attack to 1 or less tries per match, then that is the aim, whether or not some teams are able to put a score on, we need to aim to keep them to zero every week as our primary aim all season. An attack of 10 points is just fine if you only concede 8, and it takes the pressure of attack, which is ideal because attack falls heavily on a handful of players, whereas defence is spread across the entire side.

And just thinking logically, any argument that the defence will eventually crack also applies to the attack. If we are likely to concede a big score at some stage, we are just as likely to put a big score on. The pessimism can't apply only in one direction, that the defence will falter and attack will stay pedestrian.

Of course anything can happen, we'll see what happens when the teams actually run onto the field on Monday, who shows up. Predictions have been meaningless wrt Wests Tigers in 2018.

There is no reason to think they can't keep defending like they have been. Heck scoring against us has seemed like an impossible task it's taken players being sinbinned to get over the line. Parra will struggle to score points. Norman has done nothing this season and Moses will get frustrated and overplay his hand. I haven't been more confident in a win this season assuming they turn up like they have the first 3 rounds.
