the eels are said to be way over the cap and will be fined $500,000\. yet there still able to sign watmough, foran and scott as well as trying to sign gorden and still telling every one they still have space for more signings. we get rid of 14 players at the end of last year and are still looking to off load more players, and with no signings in sight, god we must be in a hell of a mess. or the other teams dont give a shit about the cap.

There is no way we are using all our cap money on players when you look at our roster.
We have let over a million dollars worth of players go and replaced them with no one.

Parramatta salary cap scandal; club faces fines of up to $500,000

PARRAMATTA is facing a fine of up to $500,000 for salary cap breaches.

The NRL has confirmed this morning the Eels have been under investigation for several months.

It relates to their salary cap last year and having to pay players who were cut by previous coach Ricky Stuart.

Among those who were forced out include Reni Maitua, Matt Keating and Cheyse Blair.

It is believed the club is still paying part of their contracts.

It is understood that the Eels salary cap breaches go back as far as 2009, the year the club made the NRL grand final.

The Daily Telegraph understands they only came to light when football manager Daniel Anderson joined the club and noticed some discrepancies.

The NRL and the Eels are expected to issue a joint press statement later today.

If Parramatta are breaching the cap should not that be forced as a priority (as soon as found guilty) to let go of players so that the club can then be (technically) under the cap? This is of course in addition to their huge fine.

Eels $500,000 over…....and the Roosters just keep on truckin'

Uncle Nick deals in automotives but not trucks.

Must have a good accountant to go with both of them. The day the roosters are found to be over the cap is the day the whole of the NRL and supporters band together to cheer for joy. Somehow the Eels are over but Roosters aren't with a roster like this and being able to sign MORE players i.e. Matangi from the Warriors is baffling.

the rooters under sharks under eels over tigers well I cant see how we would be within a bulls roar of the cap if we are lets see if uncle nick would lend us his numbers man. better still see if he could take over of joe hockey we would be in the black in a week

What amazes me is how come CRAP clubs like the Sharks and Eels who blatantly CHEAT "the system" to gain an unfair advantage over other clubs..CHEAT the system but still perform poorly!….hahaha

Well its no shock to me to read that the NRL only found out about the cap breaches after Daniel Anderson went there and found discrepancies.

Many clubs are rorting the cap because policing it is abysmal

I hate the Eels, best part of this article is the bit ive highlighted. How many Eels fans do you know cried blue murder when Melbourne got done and reckoned the trophy should have been theres. Cant wait to see my Eels mates on the weekend.

Side note - its taken 6 years to find this? what the?

I remember Paul Kent saying on 360 last year that he's had club officials tell him off the record and off air that they are rorting the cap and how they get around it. Basically unless someone exposes it you can't stop it.
