OFFICIAL Elijah Taylor [Discussion]

The fact he came 15th in his first season makes it difficult to not improve.

This year has been decent.

The fact Parra make it a Top 9 and sides like the Roosters, Souths have imploded has made it a very makeable Top 8.

If were good enough we can claim this spot in the finals this year and Taylor can look back on a job well done. All is to play for though.

How does it make it a top 9? It might make it a top 8 out of 15 but in no way does it make it a top 9\. They cheated. They are a non-factor.

Surely people understand that no matter what happens, Robbie still gets every cent of him money. The motivation here is not to save a dollar but rather to free up some cash to sign and re-sign other players whilst another club contributes toward Farah's wage.

Potentially another 3 years with JT at the helm and more importantly, potentially 3 years of meltdowns on this forum.

Sounds like he has more support than he did a few months ago. I remember an update from Torch around the time of the Canberra game, and he was a dead man walking.

TT - any truth to the paper talk of shopping the likes of Rankin & others around elsewhere?

Rankin was offered to Newcastle as part of a sweetener for ill fated Farah / Uate deal.
Newcastle actually wanted Kevvie as part of the deal but had agreed to take Rankin as well. Funny thing was /is Uate would only come here to play alongside Kevvie as they are best mates, with Noffa shifting to left wing. Very , very unlikely to happen now as Farah rightfully can pick where he wants to go, even though Potter would be moved on to accommodate Farah. 3 weeks ago the revised deal would still have cost us Farah; Rankin with a net saving of only $150k approx. to put towards re-signing ET. In short it was nonsensical - we get Uate free for 1 year but only save $150k. I'm told we would take Uate for free ($80k) in 2017 and pay him $250k in 2018\. To date no response from Newcastle.
All I've been told by an assistant coach is that Rankin will not be on the wing next year, he's there by default now with 2nd tie cap constraints.
Popular guy around the team / club, but really wants to play in the halves of 2nd option fullback - won't here at WTs. No other interest at present that I am aware of but will be costing us $160k next year, unless moved on.
As previously stated Sirro whilst now back under contract (option in his favour) has permission to look elsewhere - he still harbours a desire to play 5/8\. Roosters did show some initial interest but nothing of late.
Littlejohn is in the same boat, but has expressed interest in hooking role next year!

Much obliged, cheers.

Ridiculous that we've gone a full year with Rankin on the wing tbh. Surely Hunt is a better option now that he's fully fit?
Can't think of many halves jobs up for grabs next year, so will be interesting to see if Rankin sticks around.

But many care about Robbie and the Club. We lose about $450K-$600K by moving him on, and we get someone else on about $350K-$450K to replace him - and that player could well be under Farah's standard or no better. It only creates bad will for the club amongst other players and amongst many fans.

He has been picked on the wing all year, way before 2nd tier caps come in to play, a really poor selection from the get go, just put a winger on the wing, not real hard for a coach to do one would think. :brick:

I just hope if JT survives Rankin goes, the love knows no bounds.

You're right Eddie, but it's the way the game is now, rightly or wrongly.
The Panthers did the same with both Soward and Segeyaro this season (i.e. drop them to reserves in an effort to force them out), and they still have people lining up to sign with them.

Yes thats true.

I said ruthlessly it's good business if it comes off.

The main thing I get annoyed at is people saying Farah is not in the team becuase he has been causing trouble, wont follow the game plan etc etc.

This is about money and salary cap.

So Farah burning bridges isn't a contributing factor either?

Eddie must have missed that part. Either that or it doesn't suit his 'agenda'.

2nd tier cap is always in play, it has to be managed all year.

Agree. The victim card got played to death.

He's still getting some mileage out of it.
I clicked on a farah to souths story on Facebook today. It's fair to say the Souths fans who commented on it are not in favour of the move to say the least. They make me look like his bestie.

Well the players are showing no signs of bad will. They havnt missed a beat.
And this will be our first home game since the boning. The size of the crowd will reflect if the fans have been turned off or not.

I need to further clarify a couple of things.
1\. Elijah Taylor is in no way complicit with the machinations going on behind the scenes to try to secure his signature. As a man of absolute integrity he is in fact not happy with the saga being played out around him. He has been consistent in his public support of Farah and holds the personal view (which he has made public to my knowledge on 3 occasions) that he should still be in the team, but at the end of the day he fully respects the right of the coach to select the team - he has always done this with Cleary; Griffin. He still believes Farah will return to the team ….
2\. For the umpteenth time I need to clarify that Jason Taylor retains the overwhelming support of the vast majority of the playing group along with support staff and unanimous Board support at this time. I try to steer clear of offering my own biased personal views, but on the issue of Taylor let me just say that I am now in the distinct minority at the club in believing we could find a better fit. I have moderated my view somewhat once I was shown / educated on the restrictive nature of 1st tier / 2nd tier caps, and I will admit he has grown in the role and begun to earn the respect of the most influential players, but I still have my reservations. His initial selection of the top 25 in my view was flawed, the absurd promotion of Milone to that squad I am lead to believe was taken out of his hands. Now that Pascoe has served under the business plan he inherited and is about to embark on his own 3 year plan, it really is a whole new ball game. There's still plenty of things I don't know about the management of the club / team, I only share what I know to be true at the time / from trusted sources or first hand, but I do know that the club is about to grow up fast after a long delayed and sometimes petulant adolescence.
Bailey Sironen (dad's fav) re-signed today, I don't have accurate terms but lead to believe still under $100k.

This is indeed interesting. ET with a firm offer and Robbie still holding a reasonable hand in that he has a contract. At some point, those offers will expire and ET may be forced to take one to secure his future.

It all depends on Robbie and when he makes his move. The club cannot offer anything firm until they know how much money they have to play with.

The conspiracist in me says that Robbie may play his cards close to his chest as long as possible…this will make the Tigers very nervous and ET may very well leave without something solid from the club.

Robbie will probably then announce his plans :sunglasses:

If ET can't wait a couple of weeks to see if we can make the finals before signing a contract then he's not a team player.
Why can't this all be played out in a few weeks from now? That way we can keep our best team on the paddock for season 2016.

I didn't know that he's not waiting, but if that's true, it's his right to want his future wrapped whenever he wants to.
There'd be no reason for him to think that the club keeps their word, so if I was him , I'd be wanting to see a contract for next year as soon as possible.
His value is probably at a peak at the moment. So his Manager should be sounding out other clubs regarding next year. And it would be certain that that , is happening now.

I'd be wanting to know if they want him for next year , and if they do where's the contract, if they want to stall, for whatever reason, there's plenty of other clubs that would want him.

And even then, a contract at WTs is not worth much, even if it is a fat one.

You've certainly got a valid point there.

Back the coach.

ALWAYS back the coach.

All the facebook bleeding hearts for robbie belt out the same tune - ITS DISRESPECTFUL, OMG IT"S PERSONAL, OMG F##K TAYLOR HE'S A CHUMP

Jason Taylor then comes out and says what we have all known and seen for the last 20 weeks, then on top of that FOX SPORTS CONFIRM THE LOT by going to the statistics.

Guys, love him or hate him -Jason Taylor isn't stupid. He's now finally been given his moment to prove it.

Get a lobster on the tigers to make the 8, and you will win enough to have a semi decent night out come September.

with JT as coach me thinks u will be eating at the wayside chapel, but dont worry ur best friend JT hopefully will be dining with u.

You mean the JT that has taken us from 15th last yr to having us sitting out of the 8 only due to points diff? That JT? Oh yeah, we're definitely going backwards. Sack him immediately.

"Taken us from

Who was in charge in 2015??

He took us down a step after Potter had us improving in 2014.

Im not saying this year has not been good, but that's a laughable way of phrasing things.

He was the one who put us into equal last in the first place

If a Board member got her knickers in a knot because of something that Farah said, she'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cake.
She'd have had the P C Brigade on it immediately. And used it to get him out, rather than leaving it to a Nuffie like Taylor to stuff it up as he has .

Thanks mate, and I am with you on the JT not right fit, but good to hear about young Bailey, hope he can really kick on after his injury.
