Ellis to prop ??

Look seeing that Keith will be out for a few weeks and our back row is coping and we are short on for quality props we really should look at playing Ellis at prop

We can get some serious minutes out of him and he won't let us down

The Cowboys have Tamou and Scott and if we lose the battle up front Thurston and Co will make mince meat out of us

What do others think ??

I would move Blair to prop tbh. I think that if he was at prop he would be more effective. He has a dodgy role as a backrower.

Yeah tossed that idea up , but thought Ellis gives us a bit more size up front and you can't go missing up front which Blair can from time to time

Also thought Blair has better defensive combinations at this stage on the edge of the ruck and if you take any thing from QLD SOO try and keep the changes to a minimum

Ellis has been missing from the team for a while also which means he lacks combinations

What I am trying to say I think Ellis will cope better with the change than Blair will and will be better for our overall performance in the end

I agree, replace Galloway with Bell, Heigno in for Fulton, and BMM in for Ellis:

8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Bell
11\. Ellis
12\. Blair
13\. Fulton

14\. Moors
15\. BMM
16\. Cashy

Bell probably never played better. arguably he is with Utai our best 'value for money' acquisition ever.

how was that "well said"?

I still don't even know what "he has a dodgy role as a backrower" possibly means. dodgy not being an adjective that is often used in great literature.

please explain.

LOL….Red, your pompousness will always find you out.
This is the WTF....**NOT** a James Joyce epic
Sooner you realize this, the better ...great literature indeed. :unamused:

Gaz doesnt need the pressure of front row after so long out....put Bell there

Yeah "dodgy's" good enough for me….any bigger words and I get all confunded. Bells started at Prop before and hasn't let anybody down.

I'd put Bell up front. You know he'll keep the defence tight around the ruck. I'd stick with Moors and Cashmere on the interchange.

What I meant by "dodgy role" was that he has been instructed to play a style that makes him look and play like a busted. It's fine for somebody like Chris Heighington to play that role because he isn't a marquee signing on big bucks but from a fans perspective Blair should be playing a role that is more overtly impactful for the benefit of our support. A move to the front row would allow Blair a bit more freedom and potentially make him play better. For a guy who is reportedly on a billion dollars a week he should be our line busting, offloading, try scoring version of Tony Williams or Feleti Mateo but instead we have Chris Heighington mark 2 and that's not good enough for what was promised.

Yeah Bell up front. Ellis will work through the middle in attack where required and Bell keeps the middle tight in defence

Well if we play Bell at prop I hope no one is hoping he will pump out 150 m and 30 plus tackles

Thats why Ellis is a far better option , he will get us the metres and we will still have Bell ,Moors and Cashmere as back ups

If we give the Cowboys field position the Cowboys will lap us

Hes not match fit for starters happy…and you expect those figures?
Youre off ur head...just cause no one agrees with you, just accept it.

I think the way penrith went thru us las nite shows we need him more defensively than anything

No Ink I just remember in the five weeks when we didn't have Gal earlier this season that we lacked go forward and lost the field position battle and our defence just doesn't hold up

We don't have the kicking game to get us out of trouble either

Unlike some teams we can't function without good go forward and it defensively where we pay in the end

Ink I hope to hell I'm wrong , but Rounds 2-6 prove my point . No Gal =No go forward=no wins

Haha…..youre now changing your argument

You want, quote "serious minutes'' from a guy that hasnt played for nearly 4 bloody months, against an Origin standard front row in Tamou & Scott

Bell has been a real goer imo I'd play him at prop as well as others have suggested. The interesting thing also will be what Sheens does with Ellis, Blair, Fulton and Heighno with only 3 spots available. I suspect he will pick all 4 in the run on side and Bell starts on the bench with Blair at prop.

Talking 50-60 minutes Ink How many minutes do you think he will play from the second row ??Probably the same ??

I haven't changed my argument at all I would much rather have Ellis playing second row , but I can't see us winning without good go forward from the props You know that whatever phsyical condition Ellis is in he will keep taking it up at 100% and struggle for every metre

We haven't asked either Bell or Cashmere to play the role as starting prop all season and you want them to stand up against arguably 2 of the best 5 props in the game

I know who I think will handle it better Seasoned International v semi regular bench players
