Ellis to stay until end of 2013

Congrats roger ramjet, you are a true champion, in work ethic and demeanour and you will keep the tigers at the top end of the 8 for many years to come.

thank christ for that, smart move by the tigers.

I'm sure they'll back it up with another clanger though, probably announce a $300,000-a-year 3 year deal for fitzy next.

Great news for wests tigers!

To maximise this good news, the tigers need to tie-up their good young forwards, so they have a big, tough pack of forwards to support gareth.

Ps. …. And hope tim gives them a go. :deadhorse: :supporter:

Yeeesssssssss…....

GARETH ARMY GARETH ARMY GARETH ARMY..... :sign:

Good work Humphreys .....once again....

Gareth decided to stay after the 'tories formed a coalition with the liberal democrats and made david cameron pm back in " the old d:mrgreen: art "!!

Congrats gareth ellis.
Congrats wests tigers.
Congrats stephen humphreys.

Deadset, the impact humphreys has had astounds me week in week out. I don't mean to take the lime light off ellis … But gees humphreys has been incredible. You get these ceos who are in the news all the time - bruno cullen, todd greenberg, paul osbourne etc ... But i gotta say humphreys has achieved so much in one year for the club (re-signing key players to long term deals, sponsorship etc) and for the fans (4x4x4 split). Great news all round!!!

Ellis signs up for two more years with Wests Tigers May 13, 2010

GARETH ELLIS jokes that his biggest fear, in signing a two-year contract extension with Wests Tigers, is that his 14-week-old son might develop an Australian accent once he develops a voice.

Isaac Ellis is something of a rarity in that he was born in Australia - but is ineligible for an Australian passport because his English-born parents are on working visas.

Ellis, who originally thought his stint with the NRL and the Tigers would last no more than the three years he originally signed for, says having Isaac spend his first years in Sydney played a role in the English Test second-rower committing to the Tigers until the end of 2013 - to a point.

''I just hope he doesn't grow up with an Aussie accent,'' Ellis said. ''I'll be getting him on Skype with my family so he can get that nice strong Yorkshire accent.''

Ellis was one of the Tigers' best last year and has continued to develop this season. The club regards his re-signing until he is 32 as a significant boost - as does Ellis.

''When I first came over here, I saw it as a three-year thing and then head home - been there, done that,'' Ellis said. ''But now that I've lived out here and I've played out here, and my family's happy, I thought I'd stay a bit longer.''

On Sunday, with one Englishman in his own side in Mark Flanagan, he will face another in South Sydney's Sam Burgess at the SCG. While many may look at the match as potentially a battle of Britain, Ellis sees it as just another game.

''We've played with and against each other many times before,'' he said. ''I guess it's something new, something different that we're doing it in the NRL, because it wasn't long ago there were no English players out here.''
