I have thought long and hard on this issue over the past few years. The only way I can see it working the way it needs to is if ;
1\. A panel of 3 independent doctors give the same diagnosis.
2\. The diagnosis of the 3 docs all state that there is no quality of life nor chance of recovery.
3\. A small cooling off period to allow for a change of mind.
4\. Consent from immediate family ( ie husband/wife)
As it stands now, if I were to have an incurable and painful condition, I would choose to euthanize. Strangely though, were I considered to have committed suicide my life insurance policy will not pay out to my family, but if I was to die slowly and painfully it pays out …
Anyway this is a touchy subject to a lot of people, but in principle if agree that it should be allowed.
