Everyone Is In On The Joke

This is probably the first time Betoota have published a serious news story. Usually Danny Wanker or Slothfield come up with these exclusives.

SAD mostly @tiger_scott
What we are going thru atm reminds of the Roosters somewhere in the 1960's.
They didnt win a game all season, but a couple of years later they had turned it around completely and were well and truly on the road to becoming the powerhouse they are today.

That was when Gibson took over as coach and they got Beetson from us (Balmain) and Coote from Souffs. They spent a lot of money to get a great side

💯 correct @jadtiger and your memory is obviously better than mine.
Unfortunately.......there is no coach available out there that can turn things around like the Great Jack Gibson did for the Roosters.
I have been a supporter of Madge as I really believe his heart and the effort he has put in are in the rite place.
But there is something just not connecting to bring the best out of our blokes, and that is all we can ask for and want to see each week...our blokes having a fair dinkum go.
As another poster said...we dont appear to be a genuinely happy team, and that could mean we just dont have the rite combination of players, personality clashes or whatever to ever become a happy team...and that's not Madge's fault.

Gibson only won with extraordinarily talented sides!

At the Eels he had a backline containing Kenny - Ella - Grothe - Cronin - Sterling & some handy forwards in Price - Geoff Bugden - Mares - Wynn etc....

Parra had that patch of time between 81-86 where Kenny - Ella & Grothe had come up as local Wenty juniors to add some punch to a squad anchored by Pricey & Crow (& a young Sterlo who had relocated from Wagga as a 17 year old).

They got 4 Premierships from that group - but nil since 86.,,,

Tigers won in 2005 with a core group of local juniors contributing - even Bronson Harrison & Dean Collis played key roles during the season.

(Along with some imported youngsters like Benji & Heigno) - with a solid experienced core of Skando - Buckets Ben Galea- Hodgo & Princey.

Lesson is - build from within!!
