Farah and Ayshford talk Campbelltown

Players don't come out off their own bats and offer a like or dislike for Leichhardt, Campbelltown or Yankee Stadium. They are asked, or prompted by journo's … And what upsets Magpie fans (we are all Wests fans Smeg, remember) is that the Leichhardt bias is spawned from Holt Street, TCN Nine etc etc .... Spewing out this mindless, regurgitated dogma about "spiritual home" nonsense. Hence here we are in 2012 with the club attempting a ham fisted realignment campaign.

It is born from the fact the guys commentating and producing the shows and telecasts of games have known football at leichhardt their entire lives. It has always been whereas, in comparrisson, Campbelltown Sports Stadium is a baby of a stadium and the spiritual home of the Western Suburb Magpies was never there.

Ham fisted realignment campaign? Again you are looking at this through very dubious hindsight.

The Wests Tigers are in a campaign to engage with and court all of it's fan base and that is the way it should be

Anything else just comes across as "Mum, Billy got a bigger Tonka truck then me" Frame it in whatever way makes you feel more validated but that is the essence of the argument

I take your point about longevity … the Magpies were hopping from Pratten to Lidcombe to Cambo whilst Balmain were prancing around in ever consistent circles above the bay. But has anyone ever heard a journo, player or passer by refer to Kogarah as the spiritual home of The St George Illawarra Dragons ?

And my hindsight is 20/20 mate, it's my foresight that's often dusty.

They refer to the Leagues club as the home of the Dragons.

They also only ever refference St George greats.

Finally when they won in 2010 they used a premiership tally which was just a continuance of the St George Dragons one.

You know, that always confused me because I thought the Taj Mahal was in India.
Yeah, but I'm hearing you Smeg … And I feel for the Scarlet faithful from the Gong.
Given a hefty wad of forsight, the spiritual home of that club will soon become ... Dapto.

You see, imbalance doesn't sit well ... Where ever it resides.

Regardless of media perception I feel the Dragons do a good job of engaging with both communities.

* cough * and what's so bad about Dapto ? I work there and I think the place gets a bad rap for nothing.

I think of Dapto I think of uggos in tracky dacks at Dapto Dogs and the time I saw Terry Hill theere with what appeared to be a urine stain on his pants

a few of you missed what i was saying , the players could not bag any of the grounds , as for gnr4life its you who keeps coming up with keep divides going , so champion read it again it had no reference to any club , just the fact not 1 of OUR wests tigers players can bag grounds out etc , or they would start making the divide worse

Lol with comments you've made in the past, you are in no position to be pointing the finger at others :crazy

My point is we shouldn't have to hear that the players enjoy Cambo as much as Leichardt. You'd think and hope that it would already be a known fact

The Author framed it that way from the outset, with the line about the love of Leichhardt being more publicised (which it is currently, mainly to a bit of Channel 9 romanticism) which than leads to a the we like Campbelltown as much as Leichhardt comments…..

In truth I reckon there would be players that prefer playing at each of the grounds more than the other for a number of reasons (childhood dreams, good past performance, the feel of it.....blah, blah) not that they will (or should) come out and say I much prefer playing at X....

Robbie and Blake can do as much talking off field as they want about grounds be played at.
it's on field actions that I am concerned about.
because as we all witnessed 2012, the less said the better.

Its funny, i enjoy going to both Grounds, the only thing i like more about Leichhardt is we seem to get bigger crowds there but that could be something to with who we play @ each ground. By the way i was aWests supporter but now i follow WESTS TIGERS.

Lets be honest…Leichhardt is the greatest football ground on earth. A throwback to the old days with so much history, and unrivalled atmosphear. Dont see why everyone is getting so cut.

Campbelltown is a great ground too, but Leichhardt has the magical presence that few grounds/stadiums have these days

Boy, what have you been smoking????

Leichhardt is a dump and has been a dump for years. No transport, no parking, crappy facilities, not much wet weather cover and so forth.

With the State Government stating that it will not be building or upgrading current stadiums then you had better get used to going to Campbelltown and the SFS. Like it or not Leichhardt will not be with us much longer.

Understand what you are saying. Nevertheless I'll take Leichhardt oval with its lack of facilities over ANZ stadium with its 'state of the art' facilities any day of the week.

Money cannot buy or CREATE the charm that Leichhardt oval offers.
