They are asked, or prompted by journo's … And what upsets Magpie fans (we are all Wests fans Smeg, remember) is that the Leichhardt bias is spawned from Holt Street, TCN Nine etc etc .... Spewing out this mindless, regurgitated dogma about "spiritual home" nonsense. Hence here we are in 2012 with the club attempting a ham fisted realignment campaign.
It is born from the fact the guys commentating and producing the shows and telecasts of games have known football at leichhardt their entire lives. It has always been whereas, in comparrisson, Campbelltown Sports Stadium is a baby of a stadium and the spiritual home of the Western Suburb Magpies was never there.
Ham fisted realignment campaign? Again you are looking at this through very dubious hindsight.
The Wests Tigers are in a campaign to engage with and court all of it's fan base and that is the way it should be
Anything else just comes across as "Mum, Billy got a bigger Tonka truck then me" Frame it in whatever way makes you feel more validated but that is the essence of the argument
I take your point about longevity … the Magpies were hopping from Pratten to Lidcombe to Cambo whilst Balmain were prancing around in ever consistent circles above the bay. But has anyone ever heard a journo, player or passer by refer to Kogarah as the spiritual home of The St George Illawarra Dragons ?
And my hindsight is 20/20 mate, it's my foresight that's often dusty.
