Robbie Farah says Jason Taylor is the man to return the Tigers to glory

ROBBIE Farah has given Jason Taylor an early endorsement with the Wests Tigers skipper confident the former South Sydney coach is the man to return the troubled club to a premiership force.

As the Tigers go into Sunday’s clash against the rejuvenated Raiders looking to push into the top-eight, Farah credited the second chance NRL coach for installing a new culture at the Tigers which will lay a platform for future success.

Taylor was appointed Wests Tigers coach after Michael Potter failed in his bid to succeed long term coach Tim Sheens after the former Rabbitohs coach helped the Roosters to an NRL premiership as an assistant coach with the Roosters.

“He has been quality right from the start,’’ Farah said of the coach they call “J.T.”

“The boys have really jumped on board with him. He is really clear on what he wants and we haven’t altered from what he wants one bit. He is a positive guy too. Sometimes we might not have played quite the way he wanted but he is always looking for the positives with what we are doing.’’

Farah said the Tigers will soon execute a preseason plan put in place by Taylor following a mixed season that has seen them win three games while also losing three.

The NSW No. 9 hinted at an exciting attacking future for the club — but not until a higher priority defensive structure was perfected.

“Everyone knows there job and their role and we are working together,’’ Farah said.

“We know what we need to do.’’

Farah said Taylor, who was infamously sacked by the Rabbitohs following a physical altercation with a player during a Mad Monday drinking session, would bring the best out in the squad of players that controversially clashed with former coach Potter after Sheens was sacked mid-contract.

“He is that sort of coach (that you want to play for),’’ Farah said.

“He is not all about footy but is also interested in what is going on in our lives. He shows that genuine care and it rubs off on everyone involved in the club. He is really building a strong culture where you care about each other and look after each other not just on the field but off it too.’’

Well done Wests Tigers management for selecting the right coach.Well done Robbie as club captain for a quality piece of support.

Isn't this the exact same attitude we are trying to get away from

Who cares what the players think of the coach . As long as they respect him ….........

Who cares what Farah thinks, he had his moment last year.

I'm not sure what you want Farah to do when he is inevitably asked about his relationship with the coach? He'd be bagged if he was negative or said "no comment" or "No-one cares what I think".

That headline is a backhand swipe at Farah for his perceived influence on the coaching position at WT. Every other captain in the NRL would be expected to say the same thing.

Its a fluff, nothing piece. I think it is unfair to make any judgements about Robbie on his comments here. Let's judge him on his and the team's on-field performances.
