Farah Set To Miss Blues No 9 To Dean Young

The whole thing is a joke. Robbie should be one of the first selected. Did'nt they see this combo with Carney in the 4 nations last year. You need to fight Fire with Fire.

But we all know NSW will never learn.

I think there is a fair bit of truth to this.

I remember reading an article by Stuart in the Telegraph last year and he said he would have Dean Young at hooker.

So it wouldn't surprise me if its true.

Not that I agree I mean what does Dean Young do?
It's almost like players that lack creativity = 'tough'
Being 'tough' = Origin type of player.

And its like they think being creative = A poor defender
A poor defender = Not made for Origin.

farah has proven that he can play a standard hooking role and that he can turn up the heat in attack when needed of him. choose ennis or young and you will not get any of this. Farah also makes more tackles than either of the pair so its a no brainer!

In 2009 I thought Robbies first game was good. I reckon he played injured in the second game. Anyone remember Laurie Daley's first origin game? Completely woeful. Robbie can do it and deserves another chance. Prejudiced selections will just get us beaten again.

The only times Ricky has had success was when he as brought in to coach an existing player roster when he first joined at both the Roosters & Sharks. Always followed a downhill slide, notoriously at the Sharks when he got rid of key players.

He has no eye for talent. If he picks Dean Young, it will prove it.

Yet Farah topped the tackle count for both games he played

Obsurd. I would have 3-5 other dummy halfs there before young. Heck, Matt Keating i would prefer!

I remember Daley's first game. It was at Lang Park and I recall seeing this big git run out with the gayest hairdo I've every seen on a footy field…. That was Laurie Daley. We gave it to him all game!!!

Robbies second game wasnt as bad as some make out. He is really paying for 1-2 poor options but as we have only just seen, he just wasnt ready... Robbie turned the corner last year and really stood tall during his brief appearance in the Four Nations. After that game, it was clear to all (obviously not Daley & Co) that NSW had a real 9 for the next few years...

Im not wearing my Black & Gold googles when I say this, but Robbie should also be Captain!!!

Yep.
Pretty straight forward I thought,
Selectors = Idiots.

Robbie wasn't at his best in Origin 2 that year. Unfortunatley for him the halves combination was Wallace & Barrett from memory which means it all rested on him

It seems the NSW selection strategy is set to remain at picking players who won't lose you the game because they are solid. Sure they won't win you a game but lets not discuss that

+1

argh! i just know the nsw team is gonna have way too many st george players… morris, scott, weyman, creagh n now young. honestly the only one id have would be weyman. just coz bennett talks them all up doesnt mean they r good enough for origin!!! n ricky stuart pull ur head in. this is the bloke that wanted pearce as captain at aged 21\. he is a deadset clown. for hooker id have farah, ennis, de gois, then young.

I'd also throw in Kevin Kingston

Anyone else read the Foxsports article this morning by Daley that Gidley is a victim of NSW's poor form and has to be in the squad?

What an utter n00b

Farah was pretty poor at SOO and he has a couple of critical errors / lapses in judgement in him every couple of games. He also has the ability to create opportunities and he can win games for his team. If he gets rid of the poor options he is probably the best hooker in the game. I think NSW have to give him a fair go because he is a player who could turn around NSW's run of losses.

I would pick Farah at 9 Hayne at 6 Dugan at 1 and probably Carney at 7\. The biggest question is Hayne at 6 but in my opinion he needs to be in a key position.

Stuart is a terrible coaching option for NSW. He often comes across as a moron in the media, he comes across as a terrible coach and to top it off I doubt he has any idea how to pick a team that can win. I would not be surprised if he chooses a team of backrowers and instructs them to hit it up the guts on every play.

Stupid decision if true, yes he had a bad couple of first games, but after the 4 Nations last year and seeing how Robbie went, I would have thought it was a no brainer to have him in the Blues.

I dont care who they pick where so long as we win.
Given we've lost the last 4 series there should be no favouritism shown for incumbents.
New year, new era, new team

I reckon it's pretty poor form that the NSW selectors seem to not want to give Robbie another chance, after only a couple of average performances at SOO level. Especially when others, Ennis included, have had chance after chance after chance to redeem their many poor performances. It's just plain unfair really.

I'm not bagging the thread owner but is there any evidence that Ricky actually said that? Please forgive if I may have missed something.

Also, if Ricky did say that, it's one of the most stupid things for a coach to speak about team selections in public months before the Origin. But, if Robbie hears this, hopefully he takes motivation from this so much that he makes it impossible for the Blues to overlook him.
