Farah succession plan

I'm feeling confident that we have a solid 1 and 7, and with Austin, Moses, Te Maire Martin, Curtis Sironen, Bailey Sironen all coming through we're likely to find one of them that makes our 6 jersey his own.

When I say solid, I mean the sort of players that stand out from a young age.

I know we have Manaia Cherrington and Joel Luani but I haven't seen from them the same spark you see in youngsters in the NYC that makes you realise that YES they are an NRL player. Not to say they can't come along but with Farah playing such a pivotal role for us I think it's important that we make sure we have a player capable of stepping into his shoes and offering plenty out of the ruck.

I'd like to see Austin spend some time at hooker. I think he could make a real go of it and if he goes well he could find a clear path to first grade that way.

Am I wrong. Are Cherrington or Luani the answer? Is there another young guy I'm overlooking?

Cherrington is an outstanding young prospect. Plays very fast out of dummy half, and has good vision with the markers and tiring defence. Has many similarities to Farah IMO. He's fairly strong in defence, but will get better as his shoulders and body fills out as he gets older, still very good for his age and can also play long minutes. Not as good as Lichaa in his age group but a solid second.

He'll be a very good hooker in a few years time and probably find himself in first grade as Farah's career winds down (Kingston/Segeyaro type role)

Luani is a great defender and has a real swift clean pass from dummy half, however doesn't have the same spark as Cherrington. I could see him being a solid first grader without being a superstar. I could see him being a reserve hooker/backrower in the future in the Jamie Buhrer mould, filling in at dummy half but floating around the middle for offloads and extra metres.

Agree he is outstanding. I watched Manaia Cherrington last night he is the one to take over from Farah their in no doubt about that.

So there it is Mayer and forum friends this is the guy and we have predicted it 2 years before it will happen.

Is Farah an old man all of a sudden? Isn't he signed until 2017? That is more than enough time to get a modern day hooker/ball distributor.

Great thread.
I might start another one….

"who is going to take Brooksies position in 14 years time?" we must plan early so that we have all our ducks in a row

Farah will be around for a few more seasons, that's enough time for quite a number of prospects to pop their heads up.

If not, we could join the poaching bandwagon.
