Farah wants Origin recall

There is talk he could be out for 8 weeks over on LU with a knee issue from memory

There were even suggestions last night that Newcastle officials had already conveyed that message to Country officials. Given that the incumbent Michael Ennis is unavailable because of injury, St George Illawarra hooker Mitch Rein is on standby if Buderus is scratched.

I have to laugh This sort of crap rarely happens to Qld teams

NSW never pick the form players or the proven players at SOO level

Mentally some of these blokes who have lost 3 or 4 series are lambs to the slaughter and are as much use as a barbed wire canoe

If Stuart does not pick Farah for NSW then he has no idea whatsoever. This what is says in the Tele today.

HOOKER Robbie Farah played strongly and is now only narrowly behind favourite Danny Buderus;

He should be way in front of Buderus. His combo wuth Pearce was great and we need to have an attacking spine of:

1.Hayne
6.Carney
7.Pearce
9.Farah

We need to fight fire with fire.

Today was Farah's best effort for some time, I reckon. However, I'd be surprised if Buderus doesn't get the nod.

If you were to play a hooker of the bench to spell Buderus, surely you'd go for a creative player like Farah rather than an Ennis-type toiler.

Or a media darling like Gidley or Hinchcliffe.

I was extremely impressed with his defence - the stats says only 44 tackles which i think was way off the mark - in the first half alone Farah would have made close to 40 tackles - a real SOO defensive effort.

Wests Tigers skipper Robbie Farah hoping for recall to NSW side for State of Origin

Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah is hoping for an end to his three-year State of Origin exile after excelling in City's 24-22 victory over Country in Mudgee.

While Farah refused to be drawn on whether his partnership with Blues incumbent halfback Mitchell Pearce could help him win an Origin recall, he hoped his impressive display on Sunday gave NSW coach Ricky Stuart a reminder of what he offers to the side.

"Me and Mitch have formed and good combination and this week we have felt very comfortable playing together and that showed out there in the first half," Farah said after City raced to a match-winning 24-0 lead in the opening stanza.

"For me, it is about playing good footy, it is about my form.

"I wanted to play well here and now I have take that back to my club and put as much pressure on the selectors and Ricky as possible to pick me."

Farah, looking to return to the NSW side for the first time since 2009, drew praise from City coach and Blues great Brad Fittler after doing his hopes of a recall no harm with a busy performance at the Glen Willows Sports Complex.

"It was a real mature win and Robbie and Mitchell were fantastic at controlling the result," Fittler said.

"We relied on them to win the game. They both played a part in our kicking game and exposing their weaknesses.

"I thought everything that was asked of Mitchell leading into this game he answered. He had a couple of good runs, his passing was slick and you couldn't really ask much more from him."

Pearce and Country five-eighth Todd Carney - the Sydney Roosters' 2010 grand final combination - now look set to be reunited as NSW's halves pairing.

Pearce was outstanding on Sunday, having a hand in all four of his side's first-half tries, including a perfectly-weighted grubber kick for the second of Steve Turner's double, while while Carney roared to life after the break to outpoint City's Jarryd Hayne in the five-eighth battle.

Country coach Laurie Daley endorsed Carney as ready for his long-awaited NSW debut, but warned the Cronulla man he needed to perform for 80 minutes.

Carney was a peripheral figure in the first half, but produced a moment of pure class to leave Jamie Buhrer for dead with a side-step and inside pass for Tariq Sims to score his second try.

"He started slow, Toddy, but was good for us in the second 40," Daley said.

"You need to get on the front foot in Origin and, if you are doing the little things well, points will flow from that."

Pearce and Carney are now very much the frontrunners to team up for the Blues in Origin I against Queensland at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on May 23, with Hayne facing an uphill battle to get the selectors' nod to play second-receiver for NSW.

The Parramatta superstar did little to suggest he was a genuine No.6 and finished the game on the wing after an injury-enforced backline reshuffle and also threw an intercept pass for one of Blake Ferguson's two tries for Country.

They won't pick Farah because he is too creative and flamboyant.

They love Buderus and Ennis because they are no frills hookers, and suit Ricky's style of coaching.

Its a travesty that Farah has not played more games at SOO level, and to see that muppet Ennis play in his place really annoys me. Ennis is not in the top ten for most statistics for the current hookers in the NRL, and that goes back several seasons. Farah has genuinely been the second best hooker over the last several years.

I suppose if you are not in Ricky's "click", than no matter how good you are, or how well you are playing, you don't have a chance.

Good luck Robbie.

According to NRL Stats Farah made 47 mtrs, 44 tackles and also made 297 mtrs in kicks which was more than any other kicker- the outstanding stats are for Woods - 145 mtrs, 14 hit ups, 2 offloads, 34 tackles no errors

I read the article by Jason Taylor stating the selectors should pick the incumbents. This to me is dumb. Choose the best players and see how they go.

Maybe the incumbents get the role if the team keeps winning but it hasn't been happening has it.

if farah plays that well the next 2 games, they have to pick him.

If they don't I will die.If they pick Gidley I will die. If they pick Buderus, OK, but put Farah on the bench.

Gidley, he is good but no x-factor. You can't just play 'solid' to get past QLD defense.

Farah etting MOM for City will prove that the game means NOTHING when they pick that grubb Ennis all that dinasour past it Berdours and NSW will go backwards

Farah isn't built for origin, Ennis is and has been there and done it before…

Just wait that will be the scenario!

It defies belief that Farah is apparently still behind Buderus - but then again it was the same story in the past.

I'll admit that I've thought Farah should forget about SOO because it seemed to adversly affect his game but I'm beginning to think that perhaps it is the other way around… he really needs that challenge of C v C to get his game on song.

I hope he gets picked but moreso I hope he brings his best back to the club too, and I think he will.

And how good would Pearce go at WT with the combination he's got happening with Farah!

The Buderus band wagon is in full flight. Best we can hope is he gets a bench spot or Buderus gets injured..
