Robbie seems to be playing a far less prominent role this year, giving the ball runners early ball and not overplaying his hand. When was the last time you saw him skip 20m sideways out of dummy half. Far more direct and running much more judiciously, despite quicker ruck speed?

Another key plank in Taylor's structure methinks and a contributing factor in our forwards getting over the advantage line much more consistently. Just playing his role in the structure and not carrying the burden of instigating much of the attack like last year.

Plaudits to Taylor for simplifying his role and Robbie buying in.

What annoys me is that instead of giving the ball to the play-makers, he decides to kick it from dummy-half. This works on the 3rd/4th tackle, but when it's the last and Moses has space, give it to him.

Agree completely Larry.

Its a big reason why our forwards are making more metres. Playing far more direct.

Looking forward to Robbie unleashing a bit more once the direct style is bedded down.

Definitely matured a lot as a player. Noticed he's cut out his silly errors like running from dummy half near the line even when there's nothing on, jump out of dummy half only to shank it and kick it out on the full.

Feels like he's given full control to the youngsters whilst weaving his magic when there's something on.

I will replay the last 3 minutes of last weeks game… to be honest has not learnt anything same old mistakes under pressure.

He's been quieter in attack this year. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as he seems to be giving the halves more ball

Agree to disagree,
Although I like the halfs getting as much ball as possible, as it will spead up their knowledge o the game. But, we have really missed farahs game breaking plays! He is a better player than he's going, if he was going well we would not have lost yet.
If he needs time to adjust, them I'm ok with the move. But if he stays the same we lose a lot!!!
He's a top player and we need him firing to go anywhere in the comp…

I think the biggest change is that Robbie trusts his halves. I don't think he's been in that position since Prince (or arguably Lui) was playing. When Sheens was cycling through makeshift 5/8ths with Benji trying to play halfback, Robbie was always trying to cover at least three jobs. With Luke Brooks in the side, Robbie can just concentrate on his own gig.

With respect I think some of you may have missed my point. He has curbed his brilliance and individuality (if that's a word) to help make the rest of the team better.

Yes he still makes the odd play that you wont see from Cameron Smith but he is only 4 games into a new structure leading a bunch of rookies around and the harshest judge will agree that he is making fewer risky plays.

Just a cursory glance at the stats will show slightly lower attacking output from Robbie but a huge improvement by the other forwards. Last year only Woods consistently averaged big metres and very rarely have we had forwards consistently averaging over 100m per game.

Definitelty not. He really needs to step up sooner rather than later.

The issue is, it looks like the orders from JT are to take a backward step and let Brooksy and Moses learn their trade. Whilst that might be beneficial during the SOO period and into the future, I'm not sure we are playing to our potential as a result.

They need to take the shackles off.

Last week was one of the worst games i've seen him play in recent memory. I was at the game and never bothered watching the replay for obvious reasons, so my opinion could be skewed from not watching the game as closely, but his service was pretty poor.

His role is changing, he's no longer the go to man, he's flying under the rader. Brooks and Tedesco are the ones who run the attack now, Farah's role now seems to be more of a distributor than anything else.

I agree but I think it's to the detriment of the team in the short term.. We need him at his best whilst the others find their feet, particularly when he is on $800,000 a year.

Yeah but i think he is sacrificing part of his role to help accelerate the development of our halves. As Taylor has said repeatedly the focus has been on defence. I reckon he is trying to develop our playmakers other than Farah. They will learn over the season how to combine and then we will be a dangerous four headed monster.

i agree completely larry. i have said it in a couple of threads this season that i can see what he is doing - stepping back and allowing the young guys to take the reins.

i think that it has been a commendable role he has played this season and that he has been selfless in being exactly what the team needs in its captain. regardless of what he is paid what he is doing this season is precisely what he has been asked to do and that is (only) his job and his role in the team.

rather than highlight his lower personal stats, i look more at him playing his part in the development of the team and think he is doing it very well - which must be difficult after in the past trying to do everything himself when they are losing.

Made a critical error in last weeks' game when we were still 6 up. Took a hit up short side on play 5\. Got tackled resulting in Moses jumping into hooker and having to kick out of dummy half. Was a poor kick and soon after Dogs score up the other end.

His maturity was needed to ensure Moses was in position to receive a ball from dummy half and to instruct him to find touch.

Yeah and the penalty he gave away just before halftime against Souths cost us big-time. But looking at the big picture I see him getting the team moving forward much better and bringing our younger play-makers into it.

People saying his worst game ever are way off the mark. He got through a mountain of defence (50 odd tackles ) against the biggest pack in the nrl. Two sides to his game.
