Farah's Groin Super Thread

WESTS TIGERS' injury crisis is likely to worsen, with captain Robbie Farah set to have surgery on a troublesome groin, which could sideline him for two months.

Farah will meet with surgeon Neil Halpin early next week to discuss the possibility of surgery, having been unable to train properly for much of the season so far due to his groin problem.

While it is still possible that Farah will attempt to push through the pain, it is believed to be more likely that Farah will opt for surgery.

''It has been discussed, but nothing has been confirmed,'' Tigers coach Tim Sheens said last night. ''He has been playing with a bit of an issue, as have a number of players in the competition.''

Former Souths and Newcastle hooker George Ndaira is likely to cover for Farah if he decides to go under the knife, which would likely put him out for between six and eight weeks.

Farah, though, may still play against Sydney Roosters tomorrow, given the Tigers have been decimated by injuries. Over the past week, the club has lost centre Chris Lawrence (dislocated hip), winger Lote Tuqiri (broken arm) and halfback Robert Lui (ankle). Second-rower Gareth Ellis (ankle) has been sidelined since round one.

In terms of the possibility of surgery for Farah, Sheens said: ''A lot will depend on this week, how he goes, how he recovers. It's just week to week with him at the moment.''

The development came as it emerged that Jacob Miller, the 18-year-old halfback plucked from obscurity to help the Tigers through their injury crisis, will likely have to wait a little longer for his debut. Sheens is almost certain to relegate him to the bench.

The _Herald_ understands Sheens will opt to start Tim Moltzen at halfback for tomorrow's clash. Geoff Daniela, who was named on the bench, would then take Moltzen's spot in the centres.

Cheeky sheens!

He wants to keep Moltzen's record in the 7 jumper in tact, so he names him at 4.

Or do we count this one?

I'd rather him do it sooner rather than later. I'd rather be in a position where we need to storm home instead of burning out at the end of the year.
We've certainly been hit the hardest but other clubs have significant injury tolls also.
The young fellas have stepped up already this year and I don't expect anything less when they give it to the roosters on Sunday.

it is an unfortunate situation.
get the required surgery done as soon as practical.
do not want to have Robbie out of the team longer than necessary.
this is going to be more character building for the team.
I do think, when robbie is out, the opposition will have a mind set that playing wests-tigers will be easy.

I'm going to be brutally honest if Robbie does go under knife as of next week and is out for 8 weeks I reckon we win 2 plus bye at best That leaves us on 10 points after 12 rounds . With the time it will take the two Robbies to get match fitness and combinations Round 14 . To make 8 we will probably need to win at least 8 probably 9 of last 10 games . I just can't see us doing that sorry . Not be a doomsdayer just being sensible . Personally he needs to get the surgery done no questions about that he is not himself . But if he does we won't make top 8 imo

Damm Sheens, i have Miller in my fantasy team at just $87, 000\. I hate this coach, he just does this to get to me lol.

Farah should take the opp asap. Theres been mixed reprts about Ndaira on here, but ive always been impressed by his creativity. Not an 80 mi ute player though, so the sooner Liam comes back the better. Start with Liam at 9 and bring on Ndaira or Politini.

Do it now Robbie and minimise the risk of you not being available later in the season. WT will need your leadership even more as September approaches so the sooner you have the operation the sooner you are back on the paddock.

I want you fit, ready and hungry for the finals and if you are the chances of success are enhanced considerably.

With the way the salary cap has leveled out the comp it will be impossible to win fifty percent of our games over the next couple of months with so many key injuries. Iam not saying we will not compete but we will lack the combination's and the class to win. I would be very surprised if we make the eight now as it will be a big ask for the likes of Rowdy,Lote and Farah to regain top form quickly after a extended layoff and of course their will be more injuries as the weeks roll on.

Nothing is impossible but somethings are highly unlikely

Keep hearing this everywhere.

If this is true we are honestly F'd.

What makes you think its true

I am not saying it is true, but I've heard whispers for a while. Where there is smoke there is fire.

BTW, as if Farah would admit it on national TV, even if it was true. That quote means nothing.

So in other words he's a liar?

You were saying…?

All too easy to be smug about it now hey Hybrid :master:

When did the injury actually occur? Farah's been playing ok but certainly not at his attacking best out there. The question has to be asked whether or not it was prudent to play him at all so far this season if it's something he picked up in the pre-season trials or earlier.

I'm not being smug at all, you were just arguing for the sake of it.

It was simply common sense.

No I wasn't. I took Farah at face value when Fittler asked him how his groin was.
