You are right Flippedy Len Killeen was a very accurate goal kicker who played for Balmain after Keith Barnes if memory serves me correctly, Barnes wasn't too bad a kicker either! I think Tutty played in the same pack as Bob Boland, George Piper, Peter Provan, Bob Grant may have been in that team before he went to Souths, I'm raving a bit just trying to remember the players I followed as a kid. The last time I saw Hodgo in person was at Bunnings Campbelltown where he was signing Bunnings water bottles (still got mine) it was just before he left for England.

I think Tutty sat out a season in protest because he wasn't allowed to transfer to Penrith, if it was 1969 then I don't think he would be happy in hindsight.

Balmain: Neil Pringle, Dave Bolton (used to work with him - lovely guy), Brasher, Sirro and Wayne Pearce.
Wests: Skando, Hodgo, Andrew Leeds, and #1- FULTON!

Re the above story ….
Dennis Tutty was my favourite player as a young kid (along with Keith Barnes).
It was really a shame he had to miss those years.
He did come back and play for (and coach) Balmain after all that.
His stance changed everything.
Before they changed the transfer rules you could go watch thirds and reserves knowing those guys were staying until they played firsts or got too old and gave up.
You could only go somewhere else if the club let you - and you had to take the money they offered you.
What a difference now!

thanks for posting that link

Yes, thanks for the link Flippedy, like CKTiger, Tutty was one of my favourite players when following Balmain as a kid. I'd forgotten that he was also a champion rower who could have risen to great heights in that sport but stuck with League. It would be great to bump into him at Forster which is one of my favourite holiday destinations just to acknowledge a man who sticks by his principles. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he took up rowing/paddling when he went up to Forster good spot for it. Thanks for the memories King Tutt!!

Wests: Bruce Clark, Allan Fallah, Trevor Cogger, Michael Neil, John Bilbija.

Balmain: Michael Pobjie, Andy Currier, Brian Smith, David Bayssari
