Finals Peril

To go through to the finals undefeated we will win 8 in a row, which may hopefully get us into 4th position. If we win all our finals games as well ( 😛ray: ) we will have won 12(?) in a row, which is unlikely. Is there a week we can lose, just to make the statistical likelihood of winning the comp better?
Is it better to lose in the regular season and perhaps drop to 8th, or aim for 4th and lose the first week of the finals?
Just trying to be realistic and optimistic at the same time.

all this talk about needing a loss is garbage
if the Tigers go into the finals having won 8 in a row then they have a mountin of momentum
the only reason teams drop off after long winning streaks is coz of a lack of intensity, but come finals time there won't be any lack of intensity
think of it like this, would you rather the Tigers going into the finals on the back of 8 consecutive wins,or 8 consecutive losses?

also i can't understand how the other night you were saying the game against the Panthers wasn't finals form, but now you thnk they need a loss.If they do happen to lose,i don't think you'll be seeing any positives in the loss.I'm sure you'll be questioning their crdentials

Finals time is a different ball game altogether. I'm sure the boys will be focused and not complacent if we do win 8 in a row going into the finals.

Yep, next week against Parra - you just know it's gonna happen :unamused:

Gee…didn't mean to be mistaken.
Yes, I did think on Friday the Tigers lacked the consistent intensity of a finals winning form team. However, I do acknowledge that the team came off two very gruelling games against Manly and St George, which could account for the lapses (although Saints aren't looking too strong today).
I am searching for a time the Tigers have won 12 in a row, and nothing comes to mind. Just talking statistics, not passion.
I have always been, and will always be, a one-eyed Tiger :supporter:

umm dont think so parramatta has been pretty poor and even in the patches they have shown shome pizzaz
they fall apart 10 minutes later. like look at the game last night they were looking good then gifted the game away to manly with a couple of efforts that had me in stitches lmao….ill streak if we lose to parra

Hmmm, that could be interesting or perhaps scary! I hope you're right there about Parra, but remember they were playing very poorly before they met us the last time, then they put the cleaners through us and continued on with their poor form the week after! I know Penrith were a bogey team that we overcame the other night, but I reckon Parra is an even bigger bogey. Anyway, with regards to the OP's question, this is one game we could possibly drop on our way to Premiership glory. Remember we were hammered in the final 2 games before the finals in 05 and still did ok

Another interesting question would be how many will Melbourne have to win in a row to take out the Premiership? They're already on an 11 game winning streak, surely they would have to drop one soon. Hopefully it will be a knock out semi final against us :supporter:

Tigers won't get beat by Parra. They simply have way too much to play for now that the Dragons have lost again today. No point talking about how Parra were playing before the last time we played them, because the Tigers were playing rubbish aswell. And as far as Parra being a bogey team is concerned the Tigers have beaten them 3 out of the last 5 games, including twice last yr.That should have gone some way to showing they've overcome that.I swear some people just try and find any negatives they can in positive situations sometimes

None in the regular season
Maybe first week of semis If we lose one during regular season we could end up 7th or 8th and they all become sudden death
