LIVE GAME Finals week III

Live Game Discussion
Penrith are making a run from 7th and they are doing so during a rebuild year where they have had to breakdown several guys at once and teach them how to play to their systems in a live environment that saw them in last place at one stage (rd12), before going on a late run to just make the 8.
That forced them to play 3 finals games in a row in front of hostile crowds where their support was minimal.
They are your underdog….
Yeah the 4 in a row premiers are your underdogs … lol.

This Penrith team are a once in a lifetime phenomenon

You make it sound like wests would be a much better side with them in it, but completely ignore that these guys left and are playing better at Melbourne because there is likely better development, higher training standards, and greater leadership down there to help them excel.
I haven't ignored anything. Didn't want any of them gone in the first place. Of course they are playing better they have to - to retain their positions within stronger rosters. If we want to be a successful club retention is just vital as recruitment.

Yeah and I don’t know why you think it’s ok to criticise another club when you support one of the least successful clubs in multiple decades.
hahahaha
You remind me of one of the apprentices at work who started supporting Penrith in 2020 and thinks because his football team wins every year, everything you say about footy is invalid

Let’s disregard who we support for a moment and focus on Cronulla. They don’t step it up in big finals games.

You keep including us and I don’t know why … I’m talking about Cronulla and how they always fall short of the big one

You started off your ‘constructive’ criticism by having a dig about their ‘10 supporters.’ And then doubled down in another post about their small supporter base.

Doesn’t stop them from running a farkin excellent football program, from top to bottom, men and women. All Men’s grades in finals, women’s NRL in a prelim, women’s reserves in a grand final tomorrow. As @Tucker says, compare that to Wests. A shambles. But if you’re happy to swing your dick on a bigger supporter base…..

Given how many players come and go, we obviously have not done things right to provide them with the best opportunity to excel. This needs to be rectified, otherwise nothing changes.

Yes.. I’ve played in the Caringbah region and aware of their set up. They have the 2nd largest junior nursery I believe behind Penrith in NSW

I admire their ability to play tough and make finals footy consistently but at the end of the day until they start winning prelims and GFs it seems a bit of a missed opportunity for them

They remind me of the Bills in the NFL who are consistently up there at the pointy end then lose to the chiefs or Ravens in a conference final

It’s not even about the size of their region. It’s their development program within the NRL club’s football program. Brailey and his team set it all up. The grade coaches need to implement and execute it the way the club intends it and are given the education and resources to do it effectively. There’s a progression from Harold matts and Lisa Fiola development, right through to NRL (if they make it that far). A part-time external SG Ball coach isn’t setting their SG Ball program siloed from all other grades.

This time last year Stef had been laying down for months. Once his decision was made to leave, he emotionally literally left there and then which was there for all to see in his effort.
Playing much better footy in the back half of this year and has really stepped it up in the games that count. These experiences should aid his development for NSW.
