First 5 Rounds- A tough Start

Chris, the last time I checked, the first 5 rounds of games were worth 2 pts each game, the same value as the midway games and as the last 6 or so games in the comp.

The evenness of this year's comp, makes the first 5 rounds even more important to a team's season success, IMHO.

Totally agree with Alad.
We can't afford to be on the backfoot after the first five rounds already starting to play catchup.
Every game is so important as was evident last year.
It's a poor attitude to go into the start of the year with a mindset of
"it doesn't matter if we lose"

It's not a poor attitude to have it's more optimistic and realistic. Sure, I'd love it if we won our first 5 games but let's face it, the teams are so evenly matched these days that any team could win on any given day. You can't look too far ahead and hope to win this game and that game. The competition is way too tight to be able to do that. If you take it one week at a time and hope to be in the mix after the rep season is over you can then start planning for your run into the finals. To say we need to win the first 5 games and then feel comfortable for the rest of the year is a tad bit naive IMO.

With the salary cap really kicking in and bringing the teams closer together winning two games in a row will be tough and you could play pretty good and still loose the first five. To be realistic anything can happen in the first five weeks and the tigers have a team who should be able to take advantage of the hotter conditions. Iam tipping three from five

Some people have a weird way of looking at things..

We need to start well, play well through the rep period, and finish the season well, if we want to finish in a good position that does not see us just miss out again. I dont think we should be dropping anymore than 7-8 games all year.

Nothing more, nothing less. Its that simple.

I understand where your coming from
and I'm not trying to say we need to win all five,
I just don't want Sheens going into the season experimenting with the team line-up
because he thinks the first five games are less important than later in the season.
All games are worth two points.
I'm basically saying that would be a poor attitude and could cost us a spot in the top eight
with how tight the comp is.
