Exactly, there is so much financial incentive for rigging. Either players will cheat and shape outcomes for betting money, and contracts. Refs could cheat and shape games either for gain and profit, or because they have an ego complex, or are being black mailed or force to by the NRL/ref boss.
I've watch so many A-League games that have had incredibly suspect ref decisions favouring teams from bigger tv markets. Seeing as sports are now businesses worth hundreds of millions it would come at no surprise if they rig matches to get better ratings or otherwise constructed desired outcomes.

On top of this we have betting everywhere, betting has already destroyed cycling and rowing as our most popular spectator sports (early 1900;s those two were massive in support) as results were rigged for betting syndicates.

What ever the problem with refereeing is it has to be fixed, it could only be egos of incompetent refs too. But because there are no attempts to fix the ruck and make it black and white with neutral referee impacts (ala AFL) you'd have to think that things were designed to be exploitable.

I only hope Potter is still givin guys time and then he will get more ruthless... Sady, it's hard to say who from reserve grade and 20s is better...!its the old thing of , sure get rid of player a but is player b any better and we can't have a team full of totally inexperienced first graders..

Look at Bronson Goodwin -- I reckon most of us agree he is not the Greatest player, but look at him in souths structure... He is doing well..why can't we have this.. We don't seem to improve players we buy or Get the best out of them

Only silver longing is the experience the likes of our young Uns are getting... We need to change and keep building for 2014 and beyond

the backline just can't do it, the forwards (except Blair) are doing what they can, but the backline is a big let down.
