That is my thinking, look at the image, that corner is very close to the treeline, I would say that trying to build any stand in the corner would cause the trees to have to either be severely cut back or removed completely, and that will never happen.

Not wrong re the trees, but surely they are cutting some of them back for the northern stand in the first place.
Can’t seem to load the photo of the current top view but it seems they are pretty close to the lower tier seats.

There is no such thing DT as the Magpies or Balmain side, only Wests Tigers now. We are one !

Mate they are a shite tree species, looks like a non fruiting ficus something like ‘hilli’. Really just an overgrown weed. They were only planted to stop the wind tunnel coming up of the bay.
The stand will stop the wind. Just cut those trees out, no loss really. I like trees but these trees ain’t worth it. They’re just a quick growing wind break.
That corner especially is just dead space probably raise seating 500-1000 seats roughly, the concourse seating reaching the stands with a tunnel underneath would roughly increase seating by a one to two thousand. These are only guesstimates but u can see it could have significance in raising potential crowd numbers. Better than a multi-storey car park will do!

more like an oval than rectangle. Maybe that’s what they are referring too.

BREAKING: Allianz Stadium closure brings the football back to Leichhardt Oval

The 8th Wonder of the World is locked in for 8 A-League Women’s fixtures and 3 A-League Men’s fixtures, following the sudden closure of Allianz Stadium for turf repairs.

Plus, local heroes APIA Leichhardt FC will bring 3 NPL matches to the ground.

Once again, that makes Leichhardt Oval the most used stadium in NSW.

Rugby League season is done, rugby union has had its time too - now it’s time for the other football!

Lot of wasted space in the north western corner - if you are building a new stand from scratch why would you not wrap it around to join the western stand.

It really needs to be 25,000 minimum! By the time they have finished the upgrade it will be outdated. No club in the next ten years will be able to afford to play at small stadiums.
What gives me the shites is the sharks selling off all their privately owned land next to their privately owned stadium, then demanding that someone else pays for their stadium upgrades. Sorry guppies but umm no!
