First string backline. Is there any better????

I have every right to respond - and I did so fairly - don't get so defensive when confronted with logic mate!!!

Moltz is far from proven as an attacking CENTRE - which is a specialist position!!

And I would hate to see him trying to defend against the likes of Kenny-Dowall, Inglis, Gasnier, Morris, Idris, Hodges, Matai - he would get monstered!

im not getting defensive…. just stating the facts mate😉.. relax its NYE.. go and have a beer.. its about that time of the day

Sure, ther'll be some discussion around McKinnon at FB and Lui at HB, but even so…

What a great mix of size, speed, power and skill. The best backline in the NRL.

Thoughts?

A very strong choice of backline, if these 7 players were all fit and in form they would be strong competition for any opposition. Add in the backs not listed and there is great depth as well.

If TnT can get back on the field with form the partnership with Lote on the other wing will be huge ,I think this is the key for a MASSIVE season unstoppable comes to mind!! Coach against that one.

I have feeling Sheens will try (and persist with) Moltzen in the centres if Lui is going well. But im with Redemption, i think its a bad move.

Dont like Moltzen in the centres.
Blakes going good, he's still developing into a NRL players, center is the hardest position to defend in
His attack is ahead of his defence, he is starting to get through the line…his development is coming along fine.....then bang in the middle of it people want to move him....like a 3rd year apprentice sparky going to work in a pub...3 years down the tube.
Ayshford & Lawrence here

A fit TNT on the opposite side of the ruck will also limit the number of times the opposition double man Lawrence in defence, opening him up to do more with the ball in hand…

This is how i think itll be settled in..
with Ayshford heading to bench as a forward.
Tui is still a flip of the coin and my gut tells me we wont see him back before mid season if at all

Interesting selection Troy. We'll find out in a couple of months…Any idea whether Moltzen will train in the centres when the team starts doing ballwork?

I guess the other thing to consider is that if Sheens does have plans to shift Ayshford into the backrow, has the young fella put on enough size to handle himself there?

Moltzen didnt play well at fullback to beigin 2010, however, i still believe theres some merit in trying him there again. If Lui is going well at 7 and Tim has indeed put on a few kg's, then maybe he could handle fullback a little better. He has all the attributes for the position really, he's quick, good under the high ball (although he did lose some confidence here in 2010), runs great lines, can kick, and defends very very well at fullback. When u think about a teams balance, i believe it would be in the Tigers best interests if Tim Molzten could succeed at fullback….........but the problem is, his confidence isnt great when it comes to playing fullback. I'd try him there before moving Ayshford thats for sure.

1.Moltzen
2.Tuaiki
3.Ayshford
4.Lawrence
5.Tuqiri
6.Marshall
7.Lui

Agree with Red, Ayshford deserves the #3 and still has plenty of time to find his defensive game. We all remember how bad Lawrence was when he first started. And I can understand Ayshford not passing to his outside man, you will find that Ayshford would often recieve the ball pressed out toward the sideline with a compressed defence where passing to his winger would have almost certainly seen a change in possession. Blake would always have a look at his outside man before passing (or choosing not to.) I think with TNT outside him next year he will have much more confidence to pass the ball out unchecked without fear of his winger being caught out.

Anywho, my first seven;

1\. Brown
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuiaki
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui

Moltzen at 14\. On a serious sidenote, we will lose (most probably)
Tim to the Bears so unless Lui is injured we must persevere with Lui.

No chance..

1\. the Bears are no hope of getting a franchise…Gallop wants Perth or a second Brisbane team
2\. Benji is contracted til 2015...they live together...what does that tell ya
3\. Moltzen loves Sheens and the Wests Tigers...

If anyone was to go elsewhere it will be Lui...

Thank you...

Geo, Are you saying the NRL are going to operate a 17 Team comp? Oh, and in relation to Benji & Moltzen living together, do you think they will get married any time soon?

CB, with Moltzen at 14, how do you perceive the rotation is going to be executed. Obviously you would hope Tim gets more game time than what we saw with the back on the bench last year.

Most of the players that have roomed with Benji have moved on to other clubs. Bronson Harrison for example. There are others i just cant think of them  , he had a shocking record at one stage.

I often recall Ayshford not even looking, you could tell there was no way on earth he was going to pass…often when there was something on and passing was THE way to go....its part of his game that needs work

Tells me Benjis a slob and doesnt do his share of the washing up…
Cant keep a flatmate to save his life.

i really rate ashford, and believe he should be in the centres. He is a real footballer with alot of potential…could be a future rep player.

Ourn Backline is going to put up big points against many of the competition.

Let's compare our backline to the premiers.

1\. **Boyd** vs Anyone
2\. **Morris** vs Lote
3\. Gasnier vs **Ashyford**
4\. Cooper vs **Lawrenced**
5\. Nightingale vs **Tuiaki!!!!**
6\. Soward vs **Benji**
7\. Hornby vs **Lui or Moltzen**

Looks 5:2 to me but maybe other ppl will have different opinions. Also, I think Roosters may have a better backline than us.
